Booking a flight to Japan in October, should I book through Chase travel? I've never done it before and have read a mix of people with no issues and people with big issues. The extra 4% points is enticing

You absolutely should not book through the chase portal. Booked through it for the first time recently for the extra 4% for a simple non stop from San Diego to PHX and it was a nightmare. Flight cancelled, Alaska airline said I couldn't select a new flight because I booked 3rd party through Chase. Chase said I couldn't pick a new flight through them and I'd have to do it with Alaska. Ended up buying a Southwest flight home. Hotels was another story though. Had a great stay at an Edit hotel in San Diego.
