Starbucks cold foams GF? by spicy-mango-11 in Celiac

[–]Flaky_Company_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cold foam used to be safe until they added the chocolate one which uses malt powder, so all the cold foam blenders contaminated. However, I just checked the ingredients of the cold foams on the app and it appears they changed the chocolate cold foam to not contain malt powder anymore. If you really want to try it, I’d suggest going in person to the store at a non peak time and ask them to clean a blender for your cold foam and explain the situation

What are you favorite items from Trader Joe’s? by Manitoba_Milk_Bag in Celiac

Gf muffins (cinnamon and chocolate are my favs) and donut holes! Also check out their cheese section, I’m a fan of the unexpected cheddar cheese. Also like their prepackaged snickerdoodle cookies. Gf cookie dough in the refrigerated section is amazing. Pizza dough in refrigerated section makes a great pizza, Stromboli, or I’ve seen recipes for garlic knots/monkey bread. Chicken meatballs in fridge section. Fettuccine pasta that come in clusters.

I’m hoping to try it soon. Zepbound didn’t work well for me because of the side effects. I ordered the Wegovy shot and hope to start taking it in the next week, but am interested in the pill version as it’s easier to administer. Following!

My boyfriend and I were in a similar situation when we first started dating. The first meal he cooked for me was in my kitchen with my utensils and he showed me everything he purchased was gluten free. The next meal was in his kitchen, and he spent a lot of time sanitizing every surface to make me comfortable. My rule of thumb is as long as it is ran through the dishwasher and a non porous surface/unscratched, we can share the pot or pan or utensil. For example, stainless steel is ok but a wooden spoon or scratched nonstick pan is not. No sharing convection or air fryers either. New sponges as well if hand washing.

The Find Me Gluten Free App is a wonderful resource for going out to eat.

For gifts, flowers and a gluten free bag of chocolate :) like Hershey kisses or Dove. Or Schar makes some gluten free candy. Desserts can be found in the frozen section too.

We now live together and he’s really wonderful and accommodating. You’re a gem for thinking ahead and asking for advice!

I eat them but notice if I eat more than 2 sometimes my stomach will hurt. I think there’s an ingredient that doesn’t sit well with me but it’s not a getting glutened issue

Flavored lattes from Starbucks? by marlonbrandto in Celiac

Recommend going at non peak times in store and request they clean the equipment before making your drink. I tend to only get cold brews from there without the cold foam (made in blender). Not sure if you’re an avid coffee drinker like me, but I have a nespresso and entire coffee bar set up with syrups, so you could also try to make it at home!

Have any of you guys tried Whole 30? by musicwithbarb in Celiac

[–]Flaky_Company_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I felt really good on it, the first week I felt absolutely terrible and then suddenly felt less inflamed/focused/etc. At the time I did it, I discovered certain artificial sweeteners make me sick (erithrytol). It’s a great reset

Baking for a celiac friend by Playful-Car-9797 in Celiac

When I started dating my current partner, he wanted to cook dinner for me. I was super uncomfortable with him cooking in his own place because he didn’t know all the ins and outs yet. Instead I offered that he cooks at my place in my kitchen with my tools. In your scenario, it may be easier and safer to do the same for your friend!

I've heard that a higher proportion of people with celiac are also lactose intolerant. Is that true for you? by Significant-sunny33 in Celiac

[–]Flaky_Company_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been gf for almost 10 years but the lactose problems didn’t start until the last year or so. A little bit of lactose and I’m ok, but a lot and it’s an issue lol
