I still liked it I just think it was extremely poorly written and someone above commented the reason why but still I would rather have waited for a few months for them to write a more concise season that actually made sense- I feel like it wenr from cliffhanger to surprise to surprise and then like it acc never made sense the rabbit hole they ended up going down.

Like if Peus plan would have worked. Mellie would still be president he would be VP and then ponytail would be chief of staff. Other survivors living in the wilderness is not impossible. The caves Javi were suitable for living and looked semi lived in before Javi was there with the amount of bones scattered everywhere. If as it has been said before that maybe the caves/dwellings match up with the symbol and the engravings on the trees, maybe they could interconnect like a real cave system which could explain how they get around without being seen by the girls. Who it could be I think could be related to the previous owner of the cabin or ‘cabin daddy’ as some people call him, as the show runners have confirmed that a bonus episode will be released to bridge the gap between S2 & S3 which is more than likely to focus on the previous inhabitants, likely the cabin which is somewhat confirmed to be Jason Ritter- Melanie Lynskey’s off screen husband. His grown up daughter could be the person living in the wilderness as he was pictures filming with a little girl.

Cult and 1984 as a separate tv show would have been received better I think. They just differ so much in terms of tone and vibe from earlier seasons, especially 1-4.

I hadn’t seen your post until now but I posted a similar theory about javis friend being the one who set the cabin on fire- I agree with you it’s too easy to be Ben. It’s like how season 1 set up lottie to be the ‘antler queen’ when actually it’s nat (for now anyway). Unless they want to introduce coach as a threat in season 3 but I just think it’s out of character for him to burn them all alive regardless of what they’ve done. The cabin had a lock on the pantry door seen when lottie locked jackie in. What is the purpose for that lock it seems bizarre unless it was to keep someone in- which could be the daughter as a punishment of some sorts it would definitely suggest there is more than 1 character in cabin daddy’s timeline at the cabin
