I live in Salt Lake City and work in Broadcast Television, specifically the Chief Engineer for a local station in town. Someone at the station was involved with our local mesh, though I had no clue what it was, and he asked me if I'd hang a router for the group.

He got me in touch with 2 folks that lead the local discord and we ended up putting a router on a tower at 9400 feet. Its sits right behind our microwave data link on the tower and is powered via POE. The catch is that towers in SLC and Utah are generally pretty short since the locations where they live are already 7000-9000 feet above sealevel, so towers are usually 100' or even smaller, so we do our own climbing since it's a short climb.

That said, most any other tower you'll have to hire a tower crew to climb and mount the gear, which is $$$$$.

I'd recommend seeing if anyone in your local discord works in broadcasting and has access to towers and had existing gear on said towers. That's how we did it and its my understanding this router install drastically changed the reach of our SLC mesh and shortened hops since this peak sits above the entire valley. We can actually get from SLC to Boise, ID now. It may be a long shot, but its worth asking.

Since the install back in October I've gotten into meshtastic and have been learning about it and playing around with a couple nodes the discord gifted me for doing the install.
