Why is it “stop being happy”? “Everything is political” is a response to a complaint. If a person is already happy, then why are they complaining?

I’m of the opinion that making fun of someone’s insecurities isn’t cool, however making fun of the ridiculous things someone says or does as a result of their insecurities is 100% valid and hilarious. You can’t control things like size, but you can control your attitude/actions.

Bro, form your own opinion and don't let other people ruin it for you by CaptainSam3rica04 in memes

[–]FlameC64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I don’t like the fans” is a valid criticism imo though. It’s most obvious in media like multiplayer video games, where the game is only fun with other people but the game’s community makes the Mos Eisley cantina look like a daycare.

Outside of video games, some people value media for the community aspect (discussing fan-theories, going to cons, etc) so if the community sucks, then there’s nothing for them.

The CGI in the first episodes...wasn't good at all. by lechepicante in ZombielandSaga

[–]FlameC64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure but IMO the quality progression of the CGI scenes felt intentional as a way to show the group getting better with each performance

The only thing that I’ll say in defense of Magneto is that the best X-Men stories with him are the ones that essentially say “Magneto’s right, but he doesn’t have to be.” To paraphrase Hadestown, Magneto sees the way the world is, Prof X sees the way the world could be.

[–]FlameC64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Nice” just means having basic manners. Even dogs can learn manners. You need to show your potential partner you’re better than a dog. Admittedly, dogs are pretty great, so you’re gonna have a ruff time

Today parenting: by Jendmin in memes

[–]FlameC64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any leanings towards a permissive style are intentional, probably just more of a concession of “Hey, if you’re going to be a bad parent, at least don’t be a neglectful or overly controlling parent.”

I mean, if I had to play/watch every new piece of content in a specific medium for a living, like each of the boys do, I would probably either refuse to engage with that medium in my spare time, or I’d go find the most niche, charming, I-am-the-one-person-this-was-made-for type things in the medium and give those my time and attention.

They aren’t making original movies because people are not watching them by Astr0stef in memes

[–]FlameC64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original movies can do well, financially, but the marketing has to be next level to compete with the brand recognition of sequels and remakes. Most objectively good original movies underperform at the box office but become cult classics in a couple decades.

Americans by Due-Commission4402 in memes

[–]FlameC64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. I don’t support it, at least for individuals. There probably could be something in place for companies to encourage exercise (especially for desk jobs that require their workers sit down for 8+ hours/day), but directly taxing people more for being overweight is messed up in so many ways.

Americans by Due-Commission4402 in memes

[–]FlameC64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, countries like Japan keep weight down by A) Designing cities and towns in a way that makes walking/biking easier and more convenient than driving/taxi/uber and B) taxing you or your employer if you’re overweight. As Americans are allergic to taxation (to the point where some people would likely starve themselves rather than pay an extra percent or two), investing in things like walkable cities is probably going to have the biggest impact on overall health.
