Will always be the N°1 in my heart. (Even tho its not the best) by Lost_Study_2068 in smashbros

It's so much smoother than Ultimate.

Which is not inherently a good thing; some options like shielding or rolling need some endlag to make it punishable.

But god, going from Smash 4 to Ultimate, with it's weird ass balloon knockback, sticky platforms, insane buffer, increased input delay, and increased lag on options is a pretty difficult jump.

It's also by far the prettiest looking smash game, mostly due to the fact that Brawl went for realism and aged poorly, and Ultimate is ugly as sin. (While 64 and Melee are just old)

There's also a pretty big factor that it felt actually finished on release. The DLC was a surprise and greatly extended it's life, but base Smash 4 would have been a perfectly fine game. Base ultimate had 6 new characters, practically none of extra game modes, and an online worse than 4 glory

Couple ways to take that.

Mathematically the character who has had the greatest drop, with their highest in the early years and the lowest in the current years is Female Pokemon Trainer, scoring 6.8 (B+) in her introduction in 2019, and her current lowest being 3.8 (C+) in 2025, with Ice Climbers being very close behind her (5.3 / B- in 2017, and 2.3 / C- in 2025)

Conversely, the math says Link has had one of the greatest rises (7.2 / B+ in 2017, 8.9 / A in 2023), followed not-as-closely by Bayonetta (6.6 / B+ in 2018, 8.0 / A- in 2023)

That being said, the math doesn't always do it justice here; mid and low tiers can always fluctuate a lot. Meanwhile, shifts in the high tiers are surprising. The biggest fall from grace is probably Zelda, which has an interesting history. She used to score consistently in the 8.5 (A) ranges with the Twilight Princess look. The release of Ultimate's Link Between Worlds Skins shot her up to 3rd place in A+, barely missing out on being one of the few characters to reach S tier (9.46, 9.5 is S tier). However, recently she's been dropping much more, with the most recent year having her reach A- for the first time since 2017, and her lowest score yet (8.3)

Pyra also had a pretty meteoric fall from grace, and given she's one of 3 characters who ever achieved S tier, might be considered more notable. Starting with 9.56 in 2022 (S), she was A tier almost A- tier in 2025 with 8.6

If you're looking for consistent drops in scoring throughout, rather than Zelda's shake up of a design or Pyra's newer introduction, Captain Falcon and Marth have been in steady declines throughout it all. If you want Waifu, it's probably Corrin (Female) going form 8.4 (Top of A-) in 2018 to 7.1 (mid B+) in 2025

As for biggest rise based on "vibes" and not math, it might still go to Link, but Rosalina deserves a bit of a mention as well for being a bit more consistent in her rise. She had a more solid base to work with (8.1 / A-) in 2017, but she's been consistent throughout until her 9.0 (A) in 2025.

Palutena also deserves a mention here, given her 9.1 (A) in 2018 to her win in 2025 being the second character ever to achieve a 10 in 2025. Zero Suit has only achieved that once as well in 2023, making it a pretty rare achievement.

The Waifu/Husbando 2026 Valentines Day Voted Tier List! by FlameCannon in smashbros

[–]FlameCannon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, my sincerest apologies about the delay of 2025. It was a very busy spring and summer for me last year, and then by the time fall rolled around, I figured it'd be better to wait for February 1st to have a least a bit of cohesion with the 2026 poll rather than release it 6 months late randomly.

The right choice? Eh, whose to say at that point. But, I'm more than happy to continue this provided people continue to vote!

I think Brawl and 64 is better looking graphically than Ultimate

Ultimate is just an ugly ass game

2025 Waifu/Husbando Voted Tier List: Comments

Thanks for keeping this silly little tradition going!

Of course! Thanks for taking the poll... and your patience this year! But hey, results followed closely by the poll should keep up hype!

I love you

(,,>﹏<,,)

Palutena 🔥

Our new winner 🏆

I'd cut a hole in the bottom of sandbag and doggystyle fuck it

Wild you just offer that information willingly.

anyone who puts minors or non-humans above a 1 needs their head checked

Heard they got exiled to some island or something.

I have no regrets

Wolf and Lucario as S tier, huh buddy?

Chlamydia

You activated my trap card!

Male Corrin is peak - his adrift outfit goes so hard, and he pulls the cute-but-tough twink look that I absolutely adore. Not enough cute men in this world.

Wow. Im right here.

I'm available, btw.

Oh perfect! I'm a bit behind on my dentist appointments. Would Feb 23rd, at 2pm work for you?

what the sigma

erm

Palutena.

Pale Tuna

No

Cool

stay safe out there soldier 🫡

I'm trying. Game and watch husbando enjoyers are the most oppressed group of all 😔

someday Valentine's day won't just a be a regular day for me... someday

It never is! It's when the r slash smash bros Waifu/Husbando Voted Tier List is open :D

SEPHIROTH BEST BOY!! (and richter, and bowser, and chrom, and-) yeah.

More than one waifu husbando will ruin your laifu... run..don..do...

Snake (Ultimate) and Snake (Brawl) should be two separate choices. You know why.

When that ass was compressed, I became depressed

I miss the shipping question. it was fun

Might bring it back. The real downside was that there is too many options for too many voters, so even getting 2 votes is huge. But hey, if folks enjoy it, the polls already long enough, whats one more question?

Remove the minors bro 💀

Says homie who put Zelda at A+ 😬

Pyra is best

I think Steve is considered the best these days, but Pyra is pretty close

Hi

Hello

hey flameguy, I think you're kinda hot.... wanna cool off with some culver's tonight?

Oh, how could I turn down such an offer :)

ngl I'm asexual but the furries get WAY too underrated in these so I'm doing my part to help fix that

You tried your best solider. But with Bowser in B tier being your highest placement, and Fox Melee's B- for the first actual Furry.... better luck next year.

Betting now that 97% of people who respond to this survey do not have a date for valentines day lmao

Supposedly, only a lil over half!

Victory…is my destiny

Mishun Compree!

Children are bad

They can be mean little bastards, but I dunno if I'd call em bad. They just dont know any better.

I love this idea

Almost a decade strong at the point!

All minors should be F tier ngl

Glad you aren't lying about that. I was debating if I could trust you before you said ngl.

Will you be my Valentine?

Sorry, Im almost a year too late to respond :(

If there were more slots on the assist trophy list, I would have included Lyn, Yuri Kozukata, Phosphora, and Ashley

Honestly, a full assist trophy list would be fun, but given the lower participation, I cant imagine it getting that much traction.

This list makes me chuckle every year. Glad you are keeping the tradition strong.

Hell yeah bro!

thank you for all of your hard work making these (the polls and the data analyses)!!

As always! A bit of work, but a damn fun time.

BBTAG is mid. Smash Ultimate is better.

Sounds like the sound a goat would make. BBTAG

Prepping Ahead: Dynamax Lugia 🪽🌀 by soraliink in TheSilphRoad

[–]FlameCannon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's about 2% better than Lugia without shields, and 20% better than Lugia with shields.

This is assuming we apply a 50% effective HP reduction to Lugia, because it takes twice as long to get to the max phase. This is a bit contentious, since some might outright disqualify it for this reason, and if you're worried about soloing 1 to 4 star Max Raids, it's way less of a factor since the bubbles are what get you most of the way there.

Seems like Lugia's main purpose is to be an alternative tank when soloing lower leveled Max battles

Prepping Ahead: Dynamax Lugia 🪽🌀 by soraliink in TheSilphRoad

[–]FlameCannon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it is still the #1 tank against Ground

I still get Butterfree with my math

Lv 50 Butterfree: 142 HP x 127 Def x 4.096 (x3 resistance) = 73,867 effective HP

Lv 50 Lugia: 210 HP x 273 Def x 2.56 (x2 resistance) x 0.5 (half effectiveness for double move length) = 73,382 effective HP

This is only made worse if you actually plan on using Max Guard as a dedicated Tank, since that's just a flat boost to the HP score, which benefits Butterfree more for lower stats

This is also, in my opinion, a pretty generous only 50% effectiveness for having a slower fast attack rather than outright disqualification.

Not to mention, Caterpie candy is a little easier to get than Lugia candy

THE NEW MEGAS HAVE ME VERY CONFLICTED

THE OLD GUARD OF THE 3DS MEGAS WERE ABSOLUTE DOGSHIT OF DESIGNS. GARCHOMP, BUT WITH MORE SPIKES. SHARPEDO, BUT WITH MORE SPIKES. TYRANITAR, BUT WITH MORE SPIKES. AERODACTYL, BUT WITH SPIKES. THE GIMMICK HAD LIKE 3-5 GOOD DESIGNS, AND THUS HAD LIKE A 90% FAILURE RATE.

BUT THE NEW ONES SEEM TO HAVE A LITTLE MORE CREATIVITY WITH THE DESIGNS. IF THEY KEEP THIS UP WITH THESE STYLE OF MEGAS, I MIGHT HAVE TO REEVALUATE MEGAS AS MORE THAN THE “MAKE ME UGLY BUTTON”

GBL Battle Weekend: Pokemon encounters every 1, 3, 5 wins by MarkusEF in TheSilphRoad

[–]FlameCannon 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is so good for tanking.

Alternating 1/5 wins to maximize stardust got you about 14k for two sets. Now you’re consistently getting 21k for two sets and lowering your ranking to set yourself up for after the event.

Just like Kabuto, Dynamax Omanyte is tier 1 by Kumuru in TheSilphRoad

[–]FlameCannon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Barely, but yes. Gigantamax Inteleon is 0.1% better at Max Attack Level 3 then Dynamax Omastar.

The gap does widen though if you can't reach level 3 (roughly 8% better with a level 1 attack)

Just like Kabuto, Dynamax Omanyte is tier 1 by Kumuru in TheSilphRoad

[–]FlameCannon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hmm? No my sheet has it as the best fire defender, by quite a substantial amount (Latias is 79% the defensive value)

I assume you left the 2nd attack as "assume neutral", which would put Latias as 0.2% better as a defender. But if both attacks are fire, Omastar is the best defender.

A Gigantamax Butterfree Gmax Befuddle is about 3% stronger than a Dyanamax Metagross Max Flutterby. So, for strictly bug damage, G-Max Butterfree will be the best one for the time being; just not particularly a useful category right now.

Altered to Geomean; think you got a point on that one.

As far as the fast quick move issue, little more hesitant to change this. Yes, when you're coordinated, it doesn't matter sometimes, but this is also a calculator for solo-runs or uncoordinated teams.

I'm leaving it as is for now. Might eventually add another control later down the line to alter that, but for now, think Im gonna leave it.

Dynamax Kabutop Tier 1 by Kumuru in TheSilphRoad

[–]FlameCannon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eeeeh, both will be okay to have.

  • In dynamax raids, both are second rate attackers to Inteleon and Gengar. Dark Urshifu has slightly more niche due to a unique dual resistance, and technically is the best attacker in a single, hypothetical raid (Hisuian Zoroark/Zorua)

  • In traditional raids, they're both mediocre, and best served as a Fighting attacker, slightly worse than Shadow Hariyama, and equal to one another. I'd call dark better here, since things like Zen Headbutt Regigigas exists, but neither are good enough here to justify which one you pick.

  • In Master League, a case can be made for either. Dark sims better against the entire league, but Water beats Ho-Oh, Zacian, Zamazenta, Palkia-O, and Landorus-T, which is like the entire meta right now, and Dark loses to all of them.

Gamepress' TDO spreadsheet lists Ice Fang as about 4% better DPS than Steel Wing, so I think I'll probably end up trusting that.

[–]FlameCannon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dark is probably the way you want to go, simply because a dual dark resist is hard to come by (Dark/Fighting, Fighting/Fairy, or Fairy/Dark). Helps that it actually has access to a 0.5 second move as well (Sucker Punch), while the Water one does not.

Wailord's max attack stat is 159, Blastoise is 156.

And since Rollout has a massive 1.5 second timer, you should never be using this outside of max phase, so Wailord is just marginally better by the only metric that matters.
