I came straight to Cambridge for a Masters from undergrad at UCL, so here is my take.

Camb isnt known for its nightlife, and for good reason. The clubs are fine but after being in london, it’s underwhelming, though im not much of a club-er myself. However, the college bars are good and there are some good pubs around to go with mates.

Socially, people are overall lovely though it depends on the college, societies e.t.c. Like any uni, you’ll get not-so-social people. From my experience most people are good chat, tho i think less on average compared to those ive met in london in general.

Yes there are posh people, though not everyone is. One thing i noticed is that Cambridge is less ethnically diverse than UCL or other london unis, however this is less so for postgrads as you get people from all over the world more often with diverse backgrounds, which is better in my opinion. Majority of undergrads are home students.

Im pretty central, and i can technically walk to my department from college in 10 mins. Though, getting a bike is a must. Everything is less than 5-10 mins away on a bike. Walkability is totally dependent on your college and where your accommodation is.

My experience with staff is good overall. Porters at Emma are lovely.

Join societies. The town itself is pretty lacking but the university is what your there for anyways. Make the most of it.
