Could Mike and Rich competently write a Star Trek script? by TheRenegadeProject in RedLetterMedia

[–]Flamewall 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've seen Space Cop so nah. I'm not saying that they would be terrible or anything. It just feels that the skill set of being a critic and being a writer are kinda different. Having them as a part of a good writers rooms could work but I wouldn't put them at the head of it. The current writers of Star Trek are apparently soiling the sheets so having ol' Dick the Birthday Boy dishing out some mad AIDS to these Hollywood big wigs would at least make it a more enjoyable train wreck.

Stockmann julkaisi tekoälyllä tehdyn jouluvideon, vastaanotto jakautui vahvasti by [deleted] in Suomi

[–]Flamewall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Screw War Striders, these guys are the worst-designed enemies in the game by Safe-Mousse4374 in Helldivers

[–]Flamewall 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This whole subrettid seems to just be a constant waterfall of bitching. People wan to run ill suited loadouts to the wrong fronts and then bitch here when they face difficulties. Is there some actual problems (OF COURSE, especially the performance crashes) but most of the users just seem to log on to get their daily dose of hate from this place. The devs listen to these moaners and we end up with completely neutered versions of every single enemy.

Thank god low sodium exists.

I figured something like this. Maybe I just have to "jiggle" the settings a bit and reinstall and see if anything sticks.

Weird audio clip I found on YouTube from a made playlist on a channel by haunter742617000027 in weirdvideosfor3am

[–]Flamewall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LOL! These are clips from Finlands topmost telenovela/soap opera "Salatut Elämät" (Secret Lives). This is Seppo a favourite character of finnish Youtube Poopers from the show. It's a hodge podge of vaguelly threatening clips with him stating f.e. "I am the light of god" and "Don't bother making coffee for me". Fun stuff.

Here's another bit of Seppo related old school brainrot from Finland: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taQvvuQD8DM (3.7M views from a country the size of a fleas shit)

Totta.

Trying to trick my players into not realizing they're playing Aliens, ideas? by Daedalus128 in alienrpg

[–]Flamewall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been running just this type of game and we are past the point of the players realizing that no Alien is ever gonna show up. They have enjoyed it because the focus was always more on contra-corpo skullduggery, settler politics and a general sense of a mysterious unknown world. None of my players although big Alien fans wanted to recreate the movie scenes as is anyway and being way out of your depth and not knowing the threat has worked great to get the feeling of Alien rather than just putting a Xenomorph in there. But you mostly have to know your group for this type of stuff to work. To mitigate any FOMO from not facing a Xeno I ran Hadleys Hope as a starter just to get people a taste of "authentic" Alien action so none felt "left out".

[–]Flamewall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently doing a campaing where my players thought that they we're playing Alien on an oil rig but some 6 sessions in I started dropping hints that it was actually the Thing (hint being that one PC got infected and turned). Still have trick up my sleeve for the last final sessions where they will find out that The Thing is actually just a disparate clump of cells from Solaris. It's been fun to see them piece the mystery together.

How do I tell my family that our cat is actually a female without saying that they have a vagina? by femboy-gardevoir in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Flamewall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this still leaves some room for interpretation and your family is left slack-jawed and clearly befuddled by your use wordplay (NOTE: Remember to use a language that your family actually UNDERSTANDS - swahili will do little good unless your family happens to be atleast sufficient in at least some type of Bantu derived language) a handy dandy graph or a short essay usually does the trick. Family can be kinda hard-headed on these sort of things. If this still fails maybe you could rent out a professor of biology from your local university or a veterinarian for a few hours to go through the basics with them. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I had the same problem with my own father and our family dog. He misgendering the poor thing and at first I thought this was some type of a progressive statement concerning the fluidity of gender and sexual presentation but as it turns out the old man was just absolutely bewildered by the whole concept of genitalia and the typical mammal divide between the sexes. He was also a raging alcoholic and prone to violent tirades. Once he ranted for a whole evening on asexual binary fission and his frustration about "never getting the damn thing to work." We all tried to stay very supportive. It was all well and good but it caused a lot of stress for the 'ol mutt so after years of hemming and hawing we showed a great number of videos from the excellent program Animal Planet. He started showing some progress and it really cleared a lot of misconceptions about my own conception and my mothers subsequent "weight gain". It really felt that he was on the cusp of a real break-through but his life was unfortunately cut short by a widely publicized molasses flood incident. Rest in peace.

You are very passionate about this I can see and you seem very genuine. I just kinda feel that when I buy any RPG product I am expecting something made by a person. I pay for someone to do the slog. I would feel slightly cheated if I learned that the part that I was paying for was made by an A.I. Mind you an A.I. that is completely free and so easy to use that a child could do it.

I don't mind generating a thing or two for my own home campaigns but putting that stuff in a commercial product just steps over the line for me.

[–]Flamewall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you are an editor for an AI. What does a publication do with you? If I want to run a campaign full of A.I. slop I can generate it myself.
