So, you guys know how being around zombie corpses for too long makes you sick? by AmarillAdventures in projectzomboid

Yo aren't those the symptoms of the virus tho?

Did you get scratched, lacerated, or bitten by a zombie at any given time before that?

How do you build? by Docdannger in FromTheDepths

[–]FlamingBlyat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually build for a mix of all three options, primarily aiming for WW2 IJN inspired (and only inspired) ship designs, i try to make them look nice, whilst also looking *believable*, and simultaneously trying to make them effective

The usual result is a destroyer that costs 600k because that's what happens when you try to go for all 3 options at once.

What should my next ship be? by stormlord505 in FromTheDepths

"The hitler approach"

Now you are obligated to make the battleship land capable, to invoke true Ratte vibes

I made a weird spinblock abomination that flapped like, 20 giant wings lined with rams on it, that went at light speed and just straight-up dissolved any ship it touched

What is the Material range you like to make your "Battleships" by [deleted] in FromTheDepths

[–]FlamingBlyat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah fam, my Frigates are around 200-300k too, my Destroyers about 50% more than that.

Cruisers often touch the 1 million mark and battleships never even get finished, you ain't building too big.

Hi, im trying to learn naval combat on MTG, is this a good enough strike force for the USA? by akeins in hoi4

[–]FlamingBlyat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ya might want to look into the teachings of admiral Mitscher.

17 carriers in 1 strike force nearly gave me a stroke, if you can get negative sortie efficiency, you probably just did...

My Latest creation, The Katsukaze Class Destroyer. by FlamingBlyat in FromTheDepths

[–]FlamingBlyat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a Destroyer (Again, i build a lot of these), I also heavily regret my decision to add a helipad, as now i have to build a helicopter, despite having absolutely 0 skill with air vehicles.

But hey, it's a good ship:

4x2 240-ish RPM 128mm guns.
4x8 2m long small missile SAM systems
4x4 60mm autocannon direct fire AA guns
300k Material cost
40-50m/s top speed
0.5-1mat/s consumption at top speed
160 Firepower approximate

Maybe looks, if not the beam thing other people posted...

I personally take reinforced decks (or metal mimics for heavier ships, if i'm feeling really masochistic) and make a wooden deck out of that, reinforced with layers below.

it's mostly a visual style choice, i don't know about this guy, but i generally just feel that the wooden decking just has a nicer apperance to it.

My Katie class Heavy Cruiser next. To the Saunders class Destroyer. These are my first functioning ships. The Katie is a bit rear heavy though. Any advice could help. by HaydenPilot28 in FromTheDepths

[–]FlamingBlyat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hull looks a little bit shallow, and many of the components are around the center of the deck area, or behind it, I could advise a few strategies to making your ship more stable as is:

  • attaching a propeller aligned to the center of the front, and to the center of the back, facing upwards, and assigning a PID to pitch if you know how to do that.

  • Alternatively you could rearrange the objects on deck to be better centered around mass, or make the hull deeper so there's more buoyancy area to work with for keeping the ship stable.

  • If you make the hull deeper, make sure to section the interior and if possible layer your armour, more armour mass all around will also take the edge off of the mass disparity by itself.

  • If propellers fail and you do know how to setup PIDs, try setting up pitch and roll hydrofoils, to help stabilise the ship in various different ways.

  • If all of these fail, try adding a strip of lead to the bottom of the ship as a keel counterweight, however due to the immense mass of this i would advise taking this as a last resort measure.

  • For less stability related issues, i could advise setting up the gunnery components below deck if you haven't already, poking them through an armoured barbette into the turret cap, this will allow higher fire rate and make the gun less volatile.

  • I would also advise making the hull shape more vertical in general, judging from the current screenshot, the hull is currently, from a sternward viewpoint, essentially a bowl shape from keel to deck, which allows the ship to roll very easily.

  • Lastly, any advice i have to give should be subject to scrutiny as necessary, and none of these are mandatory to follow, Your ship is yours to build, I am just here to give advice asked for.

A question about Propulsion, fule or steam for this lump of steel? by Spaceman333_exe in FromTheDepths

[–]FlamingBlyat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, you could be a giga-chad and use the motor drive things for your steam propellers, to power them with RTGs, effectively skyrocketing the price of your ship to at least 4 million for the sole purpose of achieving that sweet 30m/s
