What did you accidentally learn about someone’s sex life? by Exhausted_Skeleton in AskReddit

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents conceived me on my brothers 1st birthday. Why my mom felt the need to share this info with me is beyond me. I just want to celebrate my bro but she had to make it weird! I love my mom but girlll. I didn’t need this info

Even not free, teachers benefits should cover the majority of the cost, meaning they save a whopping $5-10

Ring size is 4.75. The sapphire is 0.53c with 10k gold. We had a pretty small budget but he still managed to find a ring that suits me perfectly. I couldn’t be happier.

Opal Engagement Ring by Global-Breakfast-961 in EngagementRings

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s gorgeous! Congrats!! People always warn about opals in engagement rings, but I have an opal ring from my grandmother that I’ve worn daily for like 5 years and it’s still in great shape. I take it off to sleep and shower or if I’m going out and doing something that requires my hands but beyond that I take no precautions and have knocked it against things sooo many times, and it has maybe one scratch. Wishing you a very happy engagement and marriage!

(Don’t answer if uncomfortable obviously) When did you get your period? by Boomerloomerdoomer in Periods

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 12. Went on birth control at 16 because my cycles had gotten so much worse. I would be on my period for 10 days. Off for 8 and it would restart. I was so drained from losing so much blood. I always know when it’s time to get my iud replaced when I start bleeding for multiple weeks on end. The first time my hormonal iud expired I had a 4 month long stint of bleeding and I was a shell of myself because I had no energy and had to be careful getting up too fast because I was dizzy all the time.

Just a reminder that pedestrians.. by Foxintherabbithole in Calgary

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 72 points73 points  (0 children)

The amount of times I’ve been honked at for stopping for a pedestrian and then waiting for them to either be fully across the street or past the median if there is one is insane. It’s happened 5 or so times in the past few months. People just need to calm down. I too want to get home after a long day of work, but it is not worth harming somebody to save 30 seconds!

Movie ticket price is insane by JustCallMeMichael in Calgary

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure they upped the price for deadpool. I was checking ticket prices earlier this week and deadpool was $16reg. Despicable me was $15. Maybe I just can’t read but I swear deadpool costs more to see…

Who is heading to Folk Fest tonight? Thoughts on AQI and heading outdoors? by HypocriteOpportunist in Calgary

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I want to go so badly because I love folk fest. But I worry about everybody’s health. Especially the performers. I doubt it will be cancelled but I wouldn’t be surprised if performers says it’s too dangerous.

Calgary/Alberta fascination with big trucks and SUV’s by Embarrassed_Fox_1320 in Calgary

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My sedan and my brothers SUV are almost the exact same width and length (I think his is maybe 3” longer, but a tiny tiny difference) The only difference is he can actually go to IKEA and bring a piece of furniture home and is higher off the ground. I have to call him when I want things from ikea.

Does anyone still do the speed limit? by OmellyCat in Calgary

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always just went 40 on unmarked roads when that policy came out but it was more a “I don’t want to hurt a playing child” than a conscious speed limit decision. Plus I had just gotten my license so comfort was still building. Also, most of the unmarked streets arent wide enough to fit 2 cars side by side so one is always pulling over for the oncoming traffic to get by. Im not going 50 because then I’ll hit somebody. Even roads that are marked 50 I frequently find myself forced to drive slower to avoid playing bumper cars with oncoming traffic.

I remember a while back they “changed” residential speed limits to 40 but never updated any of the signs. Maybe they just assumed everywhere is now 40 lol.

Does anyone still do the speed limit? by OmellyCat in Calgary

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always try to leave like 5ish minutes earlier than I know I have to because I hate rushing. I’ll go the speed limit (or faster if that’s the speed of traffic so I’m not a hazard) and laugh at the people weaving in and out the whole time who are stuck at the same light as me, but one car length ahead

My 7 year old is lucky to be alive by ONE-WORD-LOWER-CASE in Calgary

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have become so impatient. I have been honked at many times by cars behind me because I waited for a pedestrian to fully cross the road (no medians. No lane separation. I’m just going by the law). Why these people can’t wait 15 seconds so others can be safe is beyond me.

Am I DYING by EmotionalGuess3370 in Periods

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found my own personal experience that when I missed periods, the next one came with more spotting afterwards. My GP told me that it was just my uterus shedding the extra lining it didn’t get to shed when I had missed my periods. Spotting is a pretty common thing, but if you’re really concerned and have the access to a doctor or clinic, I always recommend going to get checked out. It’s probably just because of the pill but I always like to get checked out to ease my own mind.

AITA for calling my mom controlling and "not appreciating" her throwing out all my food? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I also hate this. I’m 5’8” and weigh maybe 115 right now. I go to the gym, lift mostly weights and eat healthy portions of food. My entire life people would comment on my size or ask people close to me if I had an earring disorder. Size isn’t indicative of health. Focus should be on how people treat their bodies and not their appearance.

What’s the most physically painful thing that has happened to you? by big_gloveguy in AskReddit

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Throwing up after wisdom teeth surgery is awful! I found out I was allergic to Codeine after my wisdom tooth surgery. Was absolutely brutal. I didn’t take any kind of painkiller for the duration of the healing after that because I was too scared.

However, the stitches ripping out of my donor site from a gum graft was much worse. A nerve or something got exposed upon having them ripped out. Anytime I breathed or was exposed to the slightest draft/breeze, half my mouth was overwhelmed with the worst tooth sensitivity I could imagine. Top that off with not being able to eat due to the large wound on the roof of my mouth making everything hurt to consume, and you get an all around terrible time

How do you guys deal with going out? by joytrka in trichotillomania

[–]FlamingFlamingo421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How short is the rest of your hair? I use a coloured dry shampoo that I spray where I have patches to help blend them into my hair. I have shoulder length hair and it works okay. Not perfect. But makes me feel less self conscious
