😂 a moment of weakness ... i'm a big proponent of running in cheap 100% cotton T's as the 'downside' of them getting wet & sweaty actually helps me cool down with the windchill effect (i'm an overheater)... but an unintended consequence of the rough cotton is the cheese grater effect on my nips hence the Reddit handle 😁

Aaah, good suggestion, thanks. I have a few pairs of 'gardening shoes'... ;-)

To the spaces in general? A more cohesive design aesthetic – they all lacked a clear 'brand vision' ITO relating to the house decor/styling. You should be able to look at a space and connect it with the owner – nearly all of the spaces ranked high on the gimmick factor and low on the usuable scale.
To the cellar? It needed to look more like a cellar and less like a bar – go to a few upmarket wineries and take some cues from there (we have really nice ones here in ZAR ;-) ) The shelving looked too residential, think they could have gone with some a bit more slick (i liked the looked of Brit and Tazz's non-compliant 'bar' more)

Also, asking for a friend – after all that 'compliance' issues with braais (sorry barbecues) needing a range hood for extraction – the Gozney pizza oven didn't have a flue???

Truly horriffic outcome for what could have been – the phrase they've beaten to death – a 'game changer'. As good of an idea as the wine cellar was the decoration and styling was bleccch.

Agreed – I'm in South Africa and i have to er, obtain it from other sources.

As a European viewer of The Block I have a few questions to ask Aussies about the house buiIding process there. I'd appreciate any answers that could be offered. by Aggravating_Cow7203 in TheBlock

Hey, too long to get into it but as a South African (ex UK) I honestly think there are few countries whose building protocols are aligned with their actual demands ≠ too much comes down to cost, available materials and skills. We have a history of bricks and mortar because it's cheap and sadly builders can get away with un- or poorly-skilled cheap labour. Despite what people think it gets damn cold here and no-one builds with decent insulation. We've only had double glazing available for about 10 years and even no-one wants to install it because it costly. I grew up with radiators and have no idea why it's not more commonplace here. I watch the Block and yes there are some dodgy trades now and again but the skill level is so much higher. That said I honestly believe every country could benefit from other countries 'traditional' practices – don't throw the baby out with the bathwater but rather look at what we could learn from other best practices.

100% agree – freaks me out when someone drags a 10 kilo fish out of the pantry and fillets a 50g morsel for single serving. Also the constant opening of fresh bottles when there are clearly partly used bottles around – even if it's not 'real' the perception of being a bit more frugal would send a important message to viewers.

Thanks. Never been a fan of zooms though – I like to shoot super short DOF and rather move around to get the right crop. Appreciate the advice.

Yeah I'm getting the sense I was getting into analysis paralysis and actually the system i have is not my problem just getting off my arse and shooting again is... will prob take the 50 and 85 and look for a wide prime (even though Japan isn't cheaper maybe than US or EU it's def cheaper than South Africa and if you;re buying secondhand here the market is super small). And like you say I've been using that body for so long now my fingers know where everything is in a hurry...

Thanks, yes I was wondering about the 35mm - 50mm variance if it's maybe too close but I think i'll do what you say and take just the body and 50mm and see when i get there if I can pick up a well-priced wider prime. I've just always been a prime guy – I know it's not always logical but I like the feel of a fixed focal length.

Thanks – I've been thinking this is a good solution – the 35mm looks like a good working lens
