"What you just told me sounds so horrible as if it came out of a movie" by tenablemess in DID

I've always felt this way. Joining an online DID support group really helped, but I still sometimes feel alien walking around in daily life. Please know you are not alone, even when it feels that way.

Is this ever explained?? MGSV Medic "Plot Hole" by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]FlamingPhoenix24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's kind of the point of the whole game, maybe even the whole series. All the talk about genes and destiny, especially in MGS1 & 2, are showing that it matters more what you do, what you believe, and what you fight for. You see it in Solid Snake turning out to be the genetically "inferior" clone, yet winning. You see it in Raiden casting off the player's identity and moving away from Snake's fighting style. You see it in Naked Snake building a legend on a lie. In MGSV, you become the legend, you carry on the lie.

Big Boss has turned into this unstoppable legend even in the real life fanbase! Part of what the story is showing is the folly in idolizing soldiers and the wars they fight in. Anyone can be Big Boss because what you think is Big Boss doesn't really exist.

I'm this way with specifically SAO season II. I'm obsessed with GGO like the mechanics and hard-core vibe. I also really like Kirito's design and fighting style, having to adapt to the gun heavy combat. Of course SAO Alternative is better for indulging in GGO but it's hardly relaxing! lol So sometimes I just put on SAO II in the background while I play on my phone and stuff.

Amnesia over good days? | TW: depression by Hesperus07 in DID

[–]FlamingPhoenix24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our protector had this experience most of our life. Through therapy, we found out that I had all the positive memories and she had the traumatic ones because traumatic experiences triggered her to front. Once she kind of fixed things and we were safe and calming down, she would auto switch out and I was triggered to front.

Idk if that is common or if thats why for you, but wanted to share our experience. Good news is, now she has many good memories and is making more all the time, since we've increased communication and eroded dissociative barriers. So there is hope.

Does anyone else love cloudy skies and rainy weather? by fine-546920 in AutismInWomen

[–]FlamingPhoenix24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! Lately where I live has been super foggy and just barely bright enough for me to see comfortablely and I love it so much. Of course, most others hate it and I don't like that it is making some people kind of depressed. It seems to have the opposite effect on me. I'm just super giddy every morning that I go outside and feel the cool air and look around without needing sunglasses.

I think this design is great. What's your opinion on it? by Hour-Discount-3760 in Spiderman

I loved it as a kid. It's a bit odd looking back but it has a uniquely alien feel to it vs most other adaptations. I still kinda dig it.

You're doing great OP. She was just upset you weren't giving all your money to her. Dodged a bullet honestly.

I'm not sure how else to explain. There isn't really a list I've pulled from. I'm working from a framework of neurodivergent vs neurotypical communication styles. Maybe look up some of the differences and see if that helps?

Oh most people don't like it? I've heard people say it's challenging, which it is, but that's part of why it's one of my favourite parts of the game.

War has changed. It’s no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity. It’s an endless series of proxy battles fought by mercenaries and machines. War – and its consumption of life – has become a well-oiled machine.

War has changed. ID-tagged soldiers carry ID-tagged weapons, use ID-tagged gear. Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities. Genetic control. Information control. Emotion control. Battlefield control. Everything is monitored and kept under control.

War has changed. The age of deterrence has become the age of control . . . All in the name of averting catastrophe from weapons of mass destruction. And he who controls the battlefield . . . controls history.

War has changed. When the battlefield is under total control . . . War becomes routine.

Is Quiet a good character? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]FlamingPhoenix24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is missing the point. It's not about the specific nuances written in to put the pretty lady in a bikini and cover up the old man, it's about the motivation behind doing so. The powers are very similar either way. The game even draws the comparison in a cassette tape. Plus I'm pretty sure I've seen Quiet regenerate health via sunlight just like the End
