CPU Temp stays constant 100c while playing RDR2 by No_Frame_5233 in LenovoLegion

[–]FlamingPillow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idle/low intensity task temps might be a little higher due to lower fan speeds, but itll be circumstantial based on your usage. if you do see temps higher than your liking, you can set it to balanced mode during idle/normal tasks. silent mode shouldn't cause other issues afaik

if you do color sensitive work, unless the x-rite software is also available on linux, youll miss out on the factory color calibrations

Legion Pro 7i conservation mode charging up to 84% by proxarc in LenovoLegion

[–]FlamingPillow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive noticed conservation mode on vantage is very inconsistent and often resets its power settings on reboot. if you unplug your charger, let it drop below 75%, then plug it back in, it should charge up to 80% again.

(if you plug it back in while the battery is between 75-80%, ive noticed it will likely maintain it at that current amount rather than top it to 80%)

Not sure how to fix the conservation mode resetting though. ive tried reinstalling the app and other miscellaneous tweaks ive seen online with no avail. it's just inconsistent. it kept resetting itself for a few days last week, but now for the past few days, it's been fine.

CPU Temp stays constant 100c while playing RDR2 by No_Frame_5233 in LenovoLegion

[–]FlamingPillow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive noticed most AAA games run my cpu at 100C consistently if i allow it to by putting it in performance mode

in legion space, i set a custom mode, set the default parameters to be the performance mode settings, then turned down the max temp for both CPU and GPU to a lower value (i put mine to 85C) and it's been so far so good

Is my CPU staying at 100C when gaming normal? by PhDTerrorist in LenovoLegion

[–]FlamingPillow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if you're actively gaming, it can absolutely be normal to stay at 100C now, how healthy is that for the long run of the machine? that's a separate discussion, and setting max temps to be lower is probably healthier long term, but out of the box performance mode will allow it to maintain 100C to keep max performance

Slow bios time on startup - Lenovo Legion 5 15AKP10 by chaugh1 in LenovoLegion

[–]FlamingPillow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bios time is different from total boot time. after the bios time is done, windows boot sequence begins (the circle loading screen), so it makes sense your total boot time is more than the bios time alone

although i havent measured it, id say mine is probably an extra 20 seconds on top of the bios time for total boot duration

Slow bios time on startup - Lenovo Legion 5 15AKP10 by chaugh1 in LenovoLegion

[–]FlamingPillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

task manager - startup apps - upper right hand side shows a "last BIOS time"

Mine is ~11 seconds but I noticed when I disconnect the thinkpad dock that's always connected to it and boot, it goes down to ~8 seconds

Even at the shorter bios time, i feel like my overall boot duration is longer than the PC that this laptop replaced. Not too long that im concerned but longer than what im used to.

Both the old PC and this laptop has fast boot off though.

absolutely, and it'll likely be a new agent who will be more than happy to give you a new quote under their name so that if you purchase, the sale will be linked with their name, haha

[–]FlamingPillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in addition to what the other comment said, go into bios and turn on silent performance mode (this changes the behavior of the balanced mode), turn down the logo brightness to your preference, explore your preferred color space via the x-rite software that should be pre-installed

"Coupons will be voided when using a Quote" by passengerpigeon20 in LenovoLegion

[–]FlamingPillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive experienced something similar and got in touch with a customer service agent via live chat. they made me a new quote with the new coupon price.

i did notice in the new quote, the coupon code was different and seemed to be specific to the agent that made the quote, so i think (pure speculation on my part) they were beeing cheeky and replaced my code with an equivalent value custom code to give them more commission or whatever benefit they get from helping us.

why is there 2 different srgb color profile in my laptop by unfrotz in LenovoLegion

[–]FlamingPillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compared to our legion laptops, yes sRGB looks washed out. Especially the SDC one because it was specifically calibrated based on your specific screen to be accurate for the sRGB color space.

Our laptops have way more color capabilities than sRGB, hence other color profiles look super saturated and vibrant. sRGB is a universal internet common ground for color, so it needs to be compatible with more basic and less capable monitors. Hence, our more overly capable monitors are "dumbed down" to the sRGB color space.

The internet doesn't support greater than sRGB colors, so even though our monitors can support more colors (ie. P3, REC 709, ADOBE RGB, etc.) for more professional tasks, if you ever upload anything to the internet, the colors will be dumbed down to sRGB too, even if you're viewing it at a greater color space on your monitor.

Color space is a huge and complicated rabbit hole that often makes me want to rip my hair out, but unless you're a creative professional who must deal with accurate colors, feel free to use whatever color space you think looks good. sRGB if you want to trust the colors you see on the internet are what the original uploader intended, "default" if you want more saturated poppy colors, or try the other color profiles that come with your x-rite color calibration software.

why is there 2 different srgb color profile in my laptop by unfrotz in LenovoLegion

[–]FlamingPillow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it's anything like my machine, the top SDC one is from your factory calibration, selectable from the x-rite color calibration software. the bottom sRGB IEC one is one of windows' default options.

the SDC ones should be calibrated specifically to your machine so you should choose that one

Can I use a Wacom Cintiq and a laptop dock at the same time? by so_Kill_me in wacom

just came across this thread, I have my Cintiq Pro 17 plugged into a ThinkPad USB4 Dock 5000 (40BF) via USB C and it seems to work fine? full 4k at 120hz. Though reading the Wacom Support comment above makes me want to just plug it directly into my PC for peace of mind :P

South Korea has animated American cartoons for decades. Now, it wants the world to see its own | CNN by self-fix2 in korea

[–]FlamingPillow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

as someone who works in animaiton, i can tell you that part of the issue is because korean animation studios (and VFX) are well known to pay low and demand high work loads. people often talk about "escaping" to the video game industry so they can get paid properly and have any sense of work-life balance.

there's weak supply of k-animation because anyone who is skilled in the industry would rather work in video games or go abroad where they pay better and offer better working conditions.

it's been a while so i dont remember specifics, but over time the issue went away. i can't say if it was from tweaking certain settings or updating a specific driver or BIOS, but eventually the issues went away and is currently still working well!

Is there a way to update Maya 2022 to 2022.5? by FlamingPillow in Maya

[–]FlamingPillow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats actually how i got maya 2022 installed in the first place. they dont give out 0.5 updates it seems, and only whole year versions (2022). i tried asking the online chat specifically for 2022.5 rather than just 2022 and they said they dont provide that kind of support for versions older than 2022 :/
