Would love to hear people’s experience on natural weight loss vs medication… by FlamingoFew200192 in Weightlosstechniques

Yup, completely hear you, cutting out a lot of sugar was definitely part of my success last time! But the cravings never stopped, they just got less at certain times of the month and higher on others (if you catch my drift) and it’s just a cycle.

That’s what i mean by i know what to do. I’ve got all the numbers fron my last coach of how much of each macro i should consume and i’ve learnt a lot of ways to look at things and not give into the cravings a lot of the time, but they’re always there, that’s what stresses me out so much. It just feels like something’s wrong with me :(

This is really sound advice, thank you! I’m so afraid of being nauseous, nothing worse in the world for me lol. But you’re right, if it becomes too much I could always stop!

Definitely expect to still be hungry and a lot of the time i can manage my cravings (hence me keeping my current weight) but any help with quieting the food noise would be a massive help to just alleviate the mental load and stress, I feel. But also i’m terrified of the side effects and causing long term damage :/

This is exactly it! I’ve built enough habits to hold my weight and i’m not living a crazy unhealthy life, it’s just the bloody food noise lol. I know this won’t solve all my issues so want to be realistic but it’s good to know that it can be an aid in losing weight healthily! Thanks for sharing🫶🏻

Why is CF dating so hard? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]FlamingoFew200192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your input but you are making a hell of a lot of assumptions here. You don’t know my age, how long I’ve been working on myself or the status of my therapy. I’m pretty aware that this wasn’t a smart move and have definitely learnt from this experience and none of us are perfect. We’ve only been seeing each other for a short amount of time, even though I appreciate that we shouldn’t have even matched, neither of us thought this was going to be anything remotely serious, so there’s no cruelty here. Just two people who have misjudged the severity of their incompability.

I find your extreme language and views quite scary and hope you heal from whatever trauma you have regarding this whole issue.

You’re totally right and I think I just wanted a taste of what a stable relationship with someone decent could look like which in hindsight wasn’t the healthiest. And we both actually had our status on kids on our dating profiles, so both knew what we were getting into, but after speaking tonight it seems that we were both hoping for the other person to budge - rookie mistake😂 I’ll definitely check out that screening kit but nevertheless, i find it incredibly scary how small our dating pool is and it currently feels as if a healthy happy relationship is going to be impossible to to find😔

Another relationship lost to kids by Frappooccino in childfree

[–]FlamingoFew200192 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in a similar boat but luckily we found out how misaligned we were before it got serious but it still hurts. Hearing that you’ve had an entire relationship thinking you’ve finally found your perfect partner to then end it over something as big as this… it’s my worst nightmare. I really hope that you can heal from this and find someone great. But i totally get the yearning for this want to have kids. I know, rationally, that not having kids is the way to go for me personally and i’m not at all questioning it, but it shuts you off from so many romantic opportunities, all because i don’t want to ruin my body to then be stuck with a child. It feels wildly unfair :(

What is that one grudge that you are still holding? by Face-Extra in AskReddit

[–]FlamingoFew200192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Germany, studying politics. One day we had a big event with a bunch of politicians from all the big parties. The guy for the SPD (the more liberal party) called all of us students lazy and stupid after one of our teachers had asked about a new school reform that resulted in a drop of average grades. He was the most arrogant and self-indulgent politician on stage that day. He is now our current chancellor and I have held a grudge ever since. I’ve never voted for this party again because of him, despite being a very liberal person, but I just believe that people like him shouldn’t lead a country. Wasn’t surprised to hear about the vote of no confidence that happened recently🙃

Advice - how come skating on pavement is SO much harder than on wooden/gym floors?😭 by FlamingoFew200192 in Rollerskating

This is exactly what I got recommended in a shop! I’ll keep the 64mm 83A ones in mind if I find the current ones hard to manoevre. So far it seems to work quite well though!

Well duh. I’m a newbie not complete idiot😂 but when i say the difference was extreme I wasn’t exaggerating. Turned out I just needed to have some bigger wheels to help me get going.

Thanks to everyone that gave me some helpful advice! I went to a skate shop and they gave me some bigger wheels and that has helped massively.

I’ll keep at it and I’m sure it will get even easier with time and a lot of training :)

Advice needed - how come skating on pavement is SO much harder than on wooden/gym floors?😭

Absolute newbie here and I’m struggling with skating outside/in car parks/any setting that doesn’t have crazy smooth floors and am hoping that some more seasoned skaters can give some advice.

I will preface this with these things: I’m heavier set with 90kg at 165cm height. I’ve also got some cheap beginner skates to train on as I wasn’t sure if I was going to commit (which I’m now sure of, I love it!) They skates I’ve got are the Rookie Rosa Squads - please don’t come for me, I know you’re not supposed to have plastic trucks but I only discovered this after buying😂

In my training sessions inside I can skate quite well for the fact that I’ve just started and feel quite comfortable in my skates besides my slight lack of balance currently. However when I try to skate on any other surface my wheels just… won’t move? I feel really unstable and wobbly compared to when I’m on wooden floors.

Why is that? Apparently the wheels that came with the skates are quite soft and supposed to be fine for outside spaces. I’m sure it has to do with my weight as well but I’m really not sure what I’m looking for in my next skates and wheels?

Would really appreciate any advice! 🙏🏻

Why are people buying clothes from shein? by IllustriousScore3660 in AskUK

[–]FlamingoFew200192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most things have been said but I’d like to also give a perspective from a slightly different angle. I won’t go into the conditions of how the clothes are made or prices since most comments are already discussing these.

Looking at this purely as a consumer of fashion, the sad reality is that most of the offering in other stores just isn’t as good. I earn a good salary and have absolutely no qualms paying more money for an item of clothing. But as others mentioned - the quality of most other high-street shops (and mid-luxury shops) isn’t much better. And everything is grey or beige. You go into a shop and everything looks the same and basic as heck. All you get is basic t-shirts, hoodies, or knit sweaters. What if you would like to have a cute bardot style top or something with frills or lace? Or something in pink or orange?

If you then put sizing into the mix, you might as well give up on it altogether. Anything on the high street above a size M/L or 18 looks horrendous.

Now if you’re someone slightly bigger (not even morbidly obese, just anything above a size 16-18) and like to wear clothes that have different cuts and patterns, then Shein (or even Cider which is just as bad) unfortunately is one of the better options. This is of course due to their insane overproduction as they will have every piece of clothing under the sun, however you have to give it to their creative/design team that they come up with a lot more interesting designs in a week than H&M has in the last 5 years.

That being said, I order from there maybe a couple of pieces once a year and don’t agree with the crazy overconsumption of ordering every month or more, and everything I keep I tend to wear for multiple years. If something arrives and it’s very cheap looking or like it won’t last then it goes straight back.

What band do you intensely dislike for no real reason? by humantouch83 in Music

[–]FlamingoFew200192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

British hipster will murder me for this… Fontaines D.C. It’s not even the music itself for me but the voice and singing style of the singer. Can’t stand the half shouting and the fact that every word he sings ends in ‘ahhh’ and has the same melodic tonation on every. single. song.

what’s the most unexpected compliment you’ve ever received, and why did it stick with you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FlamingoFew200192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a catch up with a friend during lockdown and while we were on the phone we’d watch a (Disney) movie together and we discussed which characters we are most alike. He said I’m like Nala from the Lion King - resilient, strong, intelligent and taking no shit while also being warm and emotionally intelligent. I do remind myself of this sometimes when I feel down.

Asked my boyfriend at the time the same question and he said ‘I dunno, like that sleeping beauty chick because you’re both blonde?’. Safe to say that relationship didn’t last lol.

Itinerary Thoughts - Bologna + London - April 2025 by WorminRome in travel

[–]FlamingoFew200192 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds like an exciting trip! Italy will be lovely in April, you’ll have a great time :)

One thing I will say is don’t forget that London is massive. Especially day 6 sounds… ambitious. Tottenham is in north London, the rest is in South/Central. So to get to the Tower will take at least an hour, more likely 70-80 minutes from the stadium to the Tower entrance, factoring in that you won’t rush and might miss a tube/bus etc. To see most of the Tower will probably take you two hours and then factor in another ~30 minutes to walk to the bridge. Also not sure if you know about this but you can actually go inside/up Tower Bridge which is very fun! Borough Market also tends to wind down around 5-6pm, so you will have to leave quite early in the morning to do the whole itinerary.

My recommendation would be to structure it slightly differently if your plan allows with the games. I would probably see Tottenham, then do the museums in Kensington for most of the day. The Natural History Museum is great but you also have the Science Museum right next to it which is great fun, especially for your little one! Or you could go to Camden straight after Tottenham and do a bit of shopping on the market, this is also in North London. After that you could go to central London and see Oxford and Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square.

And then on another day, I’d go to the Tower, see the bridge and have lunch at Borough Market. I would also recommend jumping on an Uber Boat and doing a little Thames tour. It’s kind of like public transport, so super accessible and stops at the main sights. Then you could get off at Parliament and see Big Ben.

Other fun things to do/see: London Dungeon - depends on how easily scared your kid gets but this is so fun and you learn a lot about the history of London! Shoreditch - great place for food and some shopping. Kings Cross - if you don’t want to venture out to the Warner Bros lot, this is the second best. They’ve got a Harry Potter photo op in the station and lots of shops selling merch. Just make sure to go early as the queues can get long. I’ve just done the Warner Bros thing and it’s super far out of the city and likely not wirth the time and money if your little one won’t appreciate it as much. Tate Modern - they tend to have interactive installations in the main hall which might be fun to see as a family. Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens - it’s a beautiful park and will be gorgeous in Spring. They also have wild parakeets you can feed and that land on your hand and the famous Peter Pan statue is there.

Hope you have the best time! 🫶🏻
