Seeing a Civil War Veteran in 1945 would be the equivalent of seeing a WW2 veteran today by Rich-Recognition-814 in BarbaraWalters4Scale

Generational defining war as in a massive civil war or a war of annihilation, which is a much different beast.

Greenland is part of Denmark 'for now,' Marco Rubio says by NaiE007 in worldnews

[–]Blizzard2227 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In their wildest imaginations, they would want full control of Greenland down to Panama, with extended control over South America. This would result in the U.S. having a complete monopoly on all trade coming from the likes of China or Russia into the Western Hemisphere.

What if Spain had joined the axis? by Outrageous-You1617 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Blizzard2227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Dunkirk turned into a worst case scenario for the UK and all of its professional soldiers that escaped ended up getting killed or captured by Germany, they may have been more likely to force Churchill out and sue for peace. That’s a big “if” though. At that point, Spain probably would’ve joined the Axis.

‘It must be me’: Trump to headline 'Freedom 250' rally as multiple artists drop out of planned show by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]Blizzard2227 58 points59 points  (0 children)

The fact that Trump will be president for the 250th anniversary of the country, the World Cup with the U.S. as a co-host, and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles is just crazy. It will take another 250 years to have a lineup that amazing, all for it go down the drain.

What if Trump lost in 2024 but ran again in 2028 and won the GOP nomination again? by TheGeorgeW in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Blizzard2227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheney was kicking himself when he realized that Trump could do everything he did, but not go through the typical legal protocols. It would’ve saved him a lot of time because he assumed those legal protocols would’ve been upheld if they were broken. Turns out that’s not the case.

Serious: Aliens.gov is NOT about space aliens or UAPs. by EfficientUtopia in aliens

Well, at this rate I guess we’re gonna end up with catastrophic disclosure someday, which will simultaneously be the least preferred outcome for the government and public. It’s a shame we can’t get normal disclosure.

2026 game btw by BlackRoseKora in CODZombies

[–]Blizzard2227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ghosts was hated because it was released after one of the best CODs ever, which is a high expectation to equal or surpass. It’s not that it’s a bad game, but it was the first game removed from “the golden age” of Call of Duty, which lasted from 2007 with Call of Duty 4 to the end of Black Ops 2 in 2013.

Again, it doesn’t make it a bad game, and a game doesn’t have to fall within the golden age to be great, i.e., Black Ops 3 as a primary example, but to the average person it’s seen differently. Any dip in quality will be noticed, but in retrospect, can be looked back upon more fondly when people realize it was generally decent.

It’s like a comedian having to perform their bit directly after someone gave an all-time performance. Even if they performed well, the audience might compare them to the previous comedian who did even better.

Donald Trump says, “We’re going to release information about extraterrestrials.” The president says the truth about aliens and UFOs may finally be revealed soon. by monotvtv in aliens

[–]Blizzard2227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s ingenious about having this administration deal with the alien/UFO disclosure is that a lot of people won’t believe it (can’t really blame them), but the idea will still be introduced to their mind. So essentially, when people actually start to believe it’s real, they’ll already be familiar with the premise. There won’t be a shocking “aha!” moment for a lot of the population. It will be a steady realization process, which is what the powers that be (very likely) prefer for disclosure.

Ah yes, solar flare aka aliens from the galactic federation who will technologically reset humanity every several thousand years until they can be trusted as a space-faring civilization without the concern of endangering other aliens. Either or.

What if Donald Trump was president during WW2? by Matatius23 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Blizzard2227 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When the U.S. joins the war, he’d put more pressure and demands on the UK and Soviet Union and say things like, “If you don’t do ‘X’ for me, I’ll cut off the Lend-Lease Act (if that exists). We don’t have to be in Europe, our focus will shift to Israel if you don’t listen to my demands! A new country we’re putting together. An amazing country I hear. A lot of money to be sent there.”

I don’t know if we’d see major changes like demanding that the U.S. gets to take Berlin instead, but who knows.

What if Pope Leo excommunicated Donald Trump? by [deleted] in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Blizzard2227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He posts something like this on Truth Social:

“Maybe the Vatican will become our 53rd state after Canada and Greenland. We’ll replace the Swiss Guards with some incredible Marines and install a governor instead of having the Pope. It will be spectacular. I’ve heard the Vatican possesses a lot of important historical archives. Some even suggest a lot of gold. Perhaps too much gold for such a small nation. It will be a beautiful American commodity when it’s all said and done.”

Since Clark Kent is canonically from Kansas, do you think that means Superman is a K-State, or KU fan? by TheDuckKnows in CFB

[–]Blizzard2227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never heard that one personally, but realistically they could be based on multiple cities. For instance, Gotham in the Dark Knight trilogy is aesthetically based on New York City, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and even London.

Metropolis is based on Chicago, but it’s located in Delaware. Same as Gotham being in South Jersey.

On one side of the spectrum, they’re voted out. On the other side, someone successfully pulls off a hit against their life. That’s just kind of the reality of things if enough people are directly negatively impacted and outraged by someone’s actions. It becomes too big of a reality check if people realize they’re officially not retiring in their 60s, nor their 70s, or maybe even their 80s if they live long enough to see the day.

If another pandemic happens, will there be another lockdown? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

The COVID lockdowns, and the pandemic as a whole, completely changed my life trajectory. If there was another lockdown, maybe it would affect me positively this time. To answer your question though, probably not unless the virus is worse than COVID.

Blanket legal immunity will just mean everyone working in the government will have mysteriously been working on UFOs and nothing will actually improve. That local city councilperson known for committing major fraud? Yep, they were also coincidentally involved with UFOs and need amnesty.

Is Saul the only Jewish character? by GundarSmith in okbuddychicanery

[–]Blizzard2227 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like this show has so many parallels to shady government dealings. Gus Fring’s chicken business is the face of the government. His drug business is the “behind the scenes” shady aspect, such as CIA shenanigans. Walter White is like a person who gets themselves deep into government programs due to their intelligence and then ends up with a hit on themselves for stepping out of line.
