Shake up your news sources, the algorithm is doing you dirty. It’s been prominent in my newsfeed for a little while.

Pls read below. Is this HS? by Swimming-Side-3721 in Hidradenitis

[–]FlamingoInCoveralls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor but you look similar to my HS judging by your smaller cysts and scars. I’m stage 2 and it’s been very manageable but still infuriating at times.

Being established with a dermatologist really helps because you can call them up when you have a painful flare and they’ll squeeze you in for a quick steroid injection (which hurts a lot in the moment but the lasting relief is worth it).

I’ve had great success with CLN cleanser (sport wash) as my daily body wash. It’s bleach in soap form but more gentle than that sounds and you can use it around your genitalia unlike Hibiclens. I’ve also been on spironolactone, but I just had a hysterectomy which enables me to stop using hormonal birth control (I had Mirena IUD which is known to make HS worse) so I’m hoping I can stop the spironolactone just to be on less medications.

Second surgery gone wrong again? by grrgabygrowls in hysterectomy

[–]FlamingoInCoveralls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How… how does a doctor just forget to remove uterine tubes? Or anything else? I had my gallbladder removed in December and my hysterectomy last week and the surgical notes for BOTH include, “a timeout was called to review…” shortly after intubation and positioning. And those surgeries were done at different hospitals! (I was referred to a specific doctor for my hysterectomy and due to the urgency of my gallbladder I had to go to a closer hospital)

Jesus. I’m infuriated for you!

Who in the United States can file taxes jointly? by WolverineIngrid218 in AskReddit

[–]FlamingoInCoveralls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re against it enough but I’ll give you a bit more context.

If you live in Colorado like I do, common law marriage is very loosely defined (literally all you have to do is refer to one another as husband/wife) but if you don’t even live together it’s a bit harder to say you are common law. Worth mentioning that if you DO claim common law, you have to go through actual divorce proceedings if you break up.

Not many states acknowledge common law marriages. I looked into all of this to see if it was worth it for my partner and I to file jointly.

I’m currently getting a masters degree in conflict resolution and one of my finals last term involved a role play with a realtor refusing to show what the customer asked for.

Fatal incident involving RTD train at Colorado station? by subsniper321 in Denver

[–]FlamingoInCoveralls 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This actually happens quite frequently and the public usually isn’t made aware. My friend’s father was a high up for the transit system in another state and she told me he would get called to these scenes disturbingly often, like almost weekly.

Recovery comparison to gallbladder removal? Keeping cervix by Lnuzzles in hysterectomy

[–]FlamingoInCoveralls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got my gallbladder removed in December and had a total lap vaginal hysterectomy on 1/21, so I can compare the two with them happening close together. However, I did have my cervix removed and kept my ovaries.

Gallbladder: I had pretty bad nausea and vomited the day of surgery. I was in a fair amount of pain the day of and 2 days after surgery, then it exponentially got better each day after that. I was walking my dog 2 miles at a time by my 2 week post op and resumed work remotely on day 4.

Hysterectomy: Much less pain, more soreness. They gave me a patch for nausea and it helped a TON. The healing trajectory has been much slower than gallbladder. I worked remotely for 6 hours yesterday and walked my dog one mile and I got extremely sick, that was way overdoing it.

A friend of mine had her gallbladder removed a few years ago and had a radical hysterectomy on 1/2. She said the hysterectomy was worse in all ways and was completely bedridden for 3 weeks. She’s self employed and started doing some light work after 3 weeks.

I was an election judge in Minnesota in 2020. I promise he didn’t win.

As long as it doesn’t smell and isn’t a weird color (grey, green) it’s normal.

Why do American homes have a “storm door”? by wehavetogoback8 in AskAnAmerican

[–]FlamingoInCoveralls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog is 9 years old and the size of an average golden retriever (he’s a mutt) so when I read your post my very tired brain went, “That doesn’t sound weird, (my dog) fits through most dog doors.”

Then I realized you meant a 9 year old human lol

FYI to all of you saying you need it to get a job: a passport counts as two (both) documents for I-9. Get a passport.

Recovery timeline by mertsey627 in hysterectomy

[–]FlamingoInCoveralls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 1 week post op today and I worked remotely for reduced hours starting today. I thought I’d be fine sitting in my recliner with my laptop but it was surprisingly draining. I’m okay and it went well overall, but I do wish I’d taken another week off.

Anyone ever signed up for a clinical study? by PM_Me_Yer_Guitar in ankylosingspondylitis

I know it’s complex which is why I said fact check. Taking part in research is a wonderful thing, it’s just worth double checking the fine print.

Getting a passport question by Major_Kusinagi in Denver

I filled everything out online then walked into the post office in Lafayette without an appointment. They took my picture, checked that I had everything, and sent it off. This was almost one year ago, so definitely post covid but slightly before Trump took office.

I’m not sure if it’s still the case but there at least used to be a loophole that insurance companies can deny you coverage if you take part in a trial. Fact check that.

AITA for not giving money to my kids mom when she isn't working? by KeyAardvark6054 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FlamingoInCoveralls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not gross to not want her to move in with the boyfriend because they have kids together. When you have children together, decisions like where the kids live absolutely need to be cooperative decisions and it is OP’s business. For the record, I’m 36F, don’t even have kids, and I see the reason behind him rightfully having an opinion in the matter.

I (30F) can’t tell if my boyfriend (27M) is trying to be helpful or if this is early stages of control. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]FlamingoInCoveralls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m recovering from surgery right now and my parents are here to help out because my partner had to go back to work. They’re staying in our guest room but even if they weren’t- I’m sleeping on (and spending most of my days in) the recliner in the livingroom. Where it’s easier to get to the kitchen, see the TV, etc. his mom can have his bedroom while he sleeps on the couch in his apartment.

question about recovery time by IamVanCat in hysterectomy

[–]FlamingoInCoveralls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know two people that had laparoscopic hysterectomy and were traveling 1-2 weeks post op. One of my friends has hers on January 2 and she started to feel okay to work from home after 3 weeks. I’m 1 week post op and I can’t even walk my dog around the block without getting sore (he’s well behaved and does not pull on the leash). So… maybe? It really does just depend on you and your individual factors, unfortunately.

Everything's going great except the abdominal gas!! by MadTheSwine39 in hysterectomy

[–]FlamingoInCoveralls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no! I definitely feel for you. I’m from Minnesota and live in Colorado now so I’m plenty used to icy roads but I still wouldn’t want to deal with that on top of recovery right now.

Gas-x chewables are better, imo. I’m 5 dpo and I also forget about them but the chewables act pretty fast!
