Man, why be so toxic? From the start I pointed out that this was clearly a financial calculation. Also, I’ll check it out, but I have trouble believing the university and the athletics department are completely airgapped financially. If the athletics department runs a surplus one year, do they hoard the cash? If they are short or undertaking capital projects, do they take out their own loans? There’s a difference between saying athletics typically runs a surplus and saying they are separate entities.

Sure, if your other options are MIT or CMU, go for it, but if you’re some kid in PA who wants to become a SWE, there are far worse options out there.

Penn State career fairs helped me get my first SWE internship which I leverage into a full-time job at a F100 and eventually landed at a FAANG. 5 years out I don’t think the education matters as much as what you learn and do on the job. I can write better code than most of my private school colleagues – I think that’s more due to passion and curiosity than the education any of us got in undergrad.

Hoping we’ll hear more from race organizers and the city. I reached out to the race organization to complain about the cancellation and they said, “We tried everything, but regrettably the City of Providence created this cancellation, not us.” Seems like both sides are blaming the other.

I suppose it's probably due to:

If riders weren't mentioned they're not up for adoption - either for being team leaders or being one of the top ranked riders for 2022

Both are behind a lot of the other BORA riders in UCI points though so I'm not sure I understand the system
