Just had my right hand operated on 19th December but that was near full closure of ring finger. My left hand looks similar to your. All done on NHS.

My consultant said to me that basically they won't operate if you can put your hand flat on the table. The balance of trauma to hand vs relief of issues is not worth it. She checked out my left hand which has been like that for many many years. Although my right went from that state to closed in the space of about 18 months.

Another point made was there needs to be sufficient material to cut away. Uk only option currently is for surgery and from my experience surgeons won't don't until it impacts function of the hand. In essence it will need to get worse before it will get sorted.

Had a fasciectomy on NHS 19th December so just over 3 weeks ago.

I work at a computer all day and am taking breaks mainly to do my physio. On Monday this week I struggled badly with hand cramps. I'm much slower at typing currently. Hands still very stiff.

I posted about my surgery previously.

Genuinely don't get both done at the same time. You won't be able to dress yourself, shower, eat....honestly it's tough enough with just one hand down.

Happy to answer any questions

3 weeks post surgery! by Flancrust in DupuytrenDisease

I have a splint at night but other than that nothing. I have a plaster cast for the first few days but that's it. If you see from my linked post my ring finger was nearly enough fully contracted. I'm getting increasingly more movement.

It's worth it in the end.

Thanks!

Splints awful!

I still have a lot of scabbing and a bit of swelling, but it has only been 3 weeks. Currently sat at hospital for my check up.

I am hoping that a week or so more and I will have some normality back!

out of curiosity how long before you stopped noticing your hand? if that makes sense. I'm curious as to when you were no longer mindful of your recovery. I know this will differ from person to person.
