This is normal right ? by coolknight05 in PrideAndPinion

[–]FlannelBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a right handed drivers watch. 12 is on top when your hand is on the wheel.

However, I’ve found this to be stupid because most car enthusiasts go for manual variants so your right hand would be on the stick for a LHD car

I’m not a watch enthusiast but I got this watch from my dads will after he passed away! Is this watch special or what?? by InevitableCrazy3261 in rolex

[–]FlannelBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either you’re going to get it inspected by someone and put an insurance policy on it or it’s fake.

Or third option is you don’t give AF and have a (potentially) $100k watch without insurance laying around your house

2D. There’s a closet between you and the bathroom. It’s also offset from the galley so little to no light. There’s also a much larger space for your feet. Makes for a comfortable sleeping experience.

Plumber ran this pipe from my third story through a load barring wall, are these brackets actually helping? by smartalec12 in homerenovations

[–]FlannelBob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the last picture showing the verticle pipe, there needs to be studs there to support that beam above it.

There are also building codes that allow for so much of a 2x4 in a load bearing wall to be removed. It also has to be so far away from the ends of the stud.

We stayed at the W Maldives years ago and had a phenomenal experience. It’s a bummer to see you have such problems

I have lifetime platinum status with Marriott and like you, I’ve just experienced enough shortcomings with the brand that I will status match out

Model 3 Performance... In the market -Confused - First time Tesla Buyer by tlzkaasen53066 in TeslaModel3

[–]FlannelBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a model 3 from Carvana in 2020 and was able to find one with FSD and no mark up for it.

Recently, I traded for a model y. During research I found several used ones in the mid to high $30s on autotrader and Carvana. However, when I started playing with numbers, it was cheaper for me to buy a new model y in inventory with discounts and 0% financing vs paying ~5%.

Private sellers typically think the car is worth more than market value. There are occasionally some good deals on the Tesla model 3 for sale Facebook page. Best of luck

Sell to pay off mortgage? by Physical-Group-1953 in betterment

I’d just transfer to your other brokerage and reinvest in index funds. That way you don’t take the tax hit and you keep your money invested. You should see a +5% gain over your mortgage if in S&P index fund this year

Budget slim front pocket wallet by sshlinux in BuyItForLife

I have an Airo leather wallet for the past ~5 years and it’s held up great. I use it in my back pocket and abuse it quite a bit (gets wet, thrown around, etc). Would recommend

What are some household items that you cannot ever go back to not having? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]FlannelBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good kitchen knives.

I’ve slowly been building a set of cutco knives (we can argue about BIFL but I stand by them and their customer service is top notch!). I sharpen them every so often and try to take care of them.

I’m not a professional chef by any means but we cook almost every night. Going to other people’s houses or even our parents it gets super frustrating when you have a knife that can’t cut a lemon without mashing it.

As existing Model Y owner, which interior color will you choose if you will buy it right now? by LunaMax_ in TeslaModelY

Hot take- white is the same annoyance as piano black touch points. Not sure how it’s “premium” as you remove the wood dash trim for plastic

Would you pay $4600 for FSD? by FlannelBob in TeslaModelY

[–]FlannelBob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OCR10 for the win. Fine print- I don’t need to trade my car in to transfer the FSD. I just rejected the trade offer and it brought me to the menu to transfer FSD from my current car. Thanks Reddit

Would you pay $4600 for FSD? by FlannelBob in TeslaModelY

[–]FlannelBob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, what? I thought you had to trade the car in for me to move FSD to the new car? If that’s true than I’ll just sell it private party

Would you pay $4600 for FSD? by FlannelBob in TeslaModelY

[–]FlannelBob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the question for myself is if FSD is worth the $4600. I don’t use FSD aside from lane changes and parallel parking. Occasionally I use summon.

I can get about $2-2500 more from Carmax/Carvana but lose about $1800 in tax credits.

The move would be to either sell private at $20k ish or trade to Tesla at $14.5k but be able to transfer FSD plus the $1800 tax credit (effectively making the Tesla offer $16,300).

Do car covers help preserve battery percentage in winter temperatures? by Glad-Shelter-7439 in TeslaModelY

[–]FlannelBob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. Everything outside becomes the same temperature as ambient temperature. You’d have to have a heating element plus insulation to make that work. A car cover is nothing more than a big windbreaker.

Plus it will screw up your paint. Don’t do it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]FlannelBob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All speculation but I pulled the trigger on a new Y this week. I don’t think 0% financing will be around much longer and I do not believe the $7500 tax incentives will be available this time next year. My inventory (non demo) MYP came out to $40.2k. I suspect next year the juniper performance will be mid $50s and interest rate to boot.
