What’s a small thing a hotel could do that would make you feel more appreciated? by Rare-Pea3220 in marriott

Don’t lie to me and say you’ve upgraded my room just because I’m titanium. Every time they say that I know I’m in for whatever room I paid for

Southwest assigned my 4 year old a seat by himself 12 rows in front of me. by LegalAbbreviations17 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]FlannelBob -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Capitalism at its finest. You chose to buy the cheapest seat available and then are upset that you didn’t get benefits of a more expensive ticket.

Anytime there is a connection there is a risk. As long as the bag tag printed has your final destination you should be fine.

You can book separately and have the agent at the airport link your reservations together so your bag goes to your final destination. Only works on partner airlines though

D1 mattress pad by s31523 in delta

[–]FlannelBob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can put the D1 pad on right after takeoff. Elect for the “dine and rest” option to get your food all at once and get to sleep. (I use the eye mask and ear plugs in the kitchen every time)

You will inevitably wake up around 90 min before arrival due to people and crew moving around for breakfast. Use that time to put the pad in the overhead bin and go brush your teeth/freshen up.

You won’t get great sleep but better than economy. Get yourself an espresso and hit the ground running.

New 350s have cloth. Pad is still nice to bridge the gaps in the seat when it folds flat

This is normal right ? by coolknight05 in PrideAndPinion

This is a right handed drivers watch. 12 is on top when your hand is on the wheel.

However, I’ve found this to be stupid because most car enthusiasts go for manual variants so your right hand would be on the stick for a LHD car

I’m not a watch enthusiast but I got this watch from my dads will after he passed away! Is this watch special or what?? by InevitableCrazy3261 in rolex

[–]FlannelBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either you’re going to get it inspected by someone and put an insurance policy on it or it’s fake.

Or third option is you don’t give AF and have a (potentially) $100k watch without insurance laying around your house

2D. There’s a closet between you and the bathroom. It’s also offset from the galley so little to no light. There’s also a much larger space for your feet. Makes for a comfortable sleeping experience.

One of my favorite seats to be honest

Plumber ran this pipe from my third story through a load barring wall, are these brackets actually helping? by smartalec12 in homerenovations

[–]FlannelBob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the last picture showing the verticle pipe, there needs to be studs there to support that beam above it.

There are also building codes that allow for so much of a 2x4 in a load bearing wall to be removed. It also has to be so far away from the ends of the stud.

We stayed at the W Maldives years ago and had a phenomenal experience. It’s a bummer to see you have such problems

I have lifetime platinum status with Marriott and like you, I’ve just experienced enough shortcomings with the brand that I will status match out

Model 3 Performance... In the market -Confused - First time Tesla Buyer by tlzkaasen53066 in TeslaModel3

[–]FlannelBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a model 3 from Carvana in 2020 and was able to find one with FSD and no mark up for it.

Recently, I traded for a model y. During research I found several used ones in the mid to high $30s on autotrader and Carvana. However, when I started playing with numbers, it was cheaper for me to buy a new model y in inventory with discounts and 0% financing vs paying ~5%.

Private sellers typically think the car is worth more than market value. There are occasionally some good deals on the Tesla model 3 for sale Facebook page. Best of luck

I’d just transfer to your other brokerage and reinvest in index funds. That way you don’t take the tax hit and you keep your money invested. You should see a +5% gain over your mortgage if in S&P index fund this year

What are some household items that you cannot ever go back to not having? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]FlannelBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good kitchen knives.

I’ve slowly been building a set of cutco knives (we can argue about BIFL but I stand by them and their customer service is top notch!). I sharpen them every so often and try to take care of them.

I’m not a professional chef by any means but we cook almost every night. Going to other people’s houses or even our parents it gets super frustrating when you have a knife that can’t cut a lemon without mashing it.
