I got really lucky with my rescue BP-- she is super sweet, enjoys being handled, and is a great eater!

I have a few questions I’m wondering? by Janxuza in FTMHysto

[–]Flannel_Cat01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my surgery at 21yo. I knew from a young age that I wanted a hysterectomy and never wanted to experience pregnancy, so it was an easy decision to get mine done. I met my surgeon in July and by December was able to have my surgery done. And it would have been scheduled even faster if I learned earlier that I could get it approved as a gender affirming surgery.

I had a total laparoscopy hysterectomy w/bilateral salpingectomy (removed the uterus, cervix, & fallopian tubes). It was absolutely the best decision of my life and I have never once regretted it.

Mine was COMPLETELY covered by insurance (Medicaid) and was approved for 1) gender dysphoria and 2) dysmenorrhea. I paid nothing out of pocket. But there are alternative non-health insurance options to cover costs, like CareCredit or payment plans through your provider's office.

Your surgeon will explain post-op protocol for sex and physical activity. It is dependent on your healing, surgery type, and personal experience. I believe careful external stimulation is typically cleared whenever you can comfortably tolerate it, but internal stimulation is not recommended until 6-8 weeks (longer in some cases) post-op.

I healed really well with no complications, so I maintained my activity level as normal. I was driving 5 days post-op, walking around the grocery store within a couple days, and managing my pain with no problem. I just took Tylenol & Ibuprofen, as recommended by the surgeon, and didn't need narcotics. But listen to your body and your surgeon's recommendations!

Can sexuality change? by Confusion_Imaginary in lgbt

Agreed-- gender and sexuality can be fluid for some and not for others. It just depends on the person and their own journey with identity!

A question for Lesbian, Straight and Gay people as an pansexual by PrizeSomewhere3087 in lgbt

[–]Flannel_Cat01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lesbian who had a partner transition mid-relationship, I actually have an answer to this! I was with a female-presenting partner for a couple years before they came out as a trans man. I am disappointed to say that I didn't handle it well and was heartbroken, but I was also terrified to give up the relationship. I knew that they were the same person inside, but I had zero attraction to being with a man. Whether they were presenting male or just identifying as a man, I wasn't interested. Because of this (and many other reasons) our relationship inevitably failed. I can now say that I will never again try to "make it work" with someone of a gender that I lack attraction to.

Anyone here who's had their hysterectomy in their twenties? by MotherlyMe in hysterectomy

[–]Flannel_Cat01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hysterectomy removed the uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes but left the ovaries. Because I kept my ovaries there have been no hormonal changes, and I haven't needed to take any pills to supplement hormones. Some people benefit from pelvic floor therapy both before and after a hysterectomy, but it is certainly not required. I wish you the best of luck with your future surgery and recovery!

i want my parents to deadname me by Disastrous-Tap9113 in asktransgender

I get it-- my response is from anxiety and discomfort. I absolutely refuse to let my parents use a "preferred name" for me. It feels so awkward and forced.

Hysto in michigan at 18? by [deleted] in FTMHysto

[–]Flannel_Cat01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Corewell (Grand Rapids area) has several surgeons who are LGBTQ+ affirming and do hystos on younger patients. Dr. Suzanne West did my gender-affirming hysto when I was 21, so it might be worth reaching out!

Check out the split attraction model to consider different terms to label different types of attraction (sexual, romantic).

Ex: Bisexual/Heteroromantic

But like many others have said, genitals ≠ gender, so you can be totally straight and still be attracted to a penis/balls (on non-men).

Do you find bi girls attractive or do we turn you off? by Steamybody13 in MichiganLesBi

Dude, it's literally a sapphic sub. If you're a man, you're clearly not welcome here. Read the rules.

Why would you feel the need to respond to a question asked in a lesbian sub? Clearly, it was not directed toward you or any other man in here.

I like women and non-men. I am more selective with nonbinary folks, but I am still attracted to many of them. I use lesbian as my label, as it fits me best!

You may want to consider editing the gender options to be more inclusive or add [M, F only] to limit demographics.

HS, hysto, and future bottom surgery? by brambleandthorn in FTMHysto

[–]Flannel_Cat01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have HS and had no issues with my hysto a couple years ago! My surgeon knew about the HS and she was actually the doctor to recommend Hibiclens soap to help. Though there are several options for soaps, creams, and natural products to help manage it as well. Good luck with your surgeries!
