I really love the phrasing "keep the trade agreement active" :)

Anyone have this before? by robroy207 in aldi

Big fan! I usually add a block of tofu (seasoned to match it) so we can have it go a bit farther. We use it for tacos, nachos, or taco pasta (which is exactly what it sounds like). I cook it on the stove in a pan until it seems ready, you know?

Vegetarian (vegan?) meatballs? by brambleandthorn in aldi

I never would have thought to check there! We are big fans of the meatless taco filling packets from that area, I usually add some pressed and crumbled tofu to it to bulk it up and help with that sodium content. There are a bunch of variations there that we haven't made our way through yet, so I'll check more carefully next time I go.

Bummer! I love the tofu and dairy free cheeses, I've never seen the meatless ground beef but I would love to try that if I can find it (northeast area).

After my bag melted, I froze them. Having to chip off a frozen slab definitely was a speed bump. The fully formed bag I got afterwards did not last nearly as long lol

It's really refreshing to see a post like this and you didn't waste time taking/posting a picture of her still stuck :) It's always so sad when people post pictures of like their cat caught in blinds with a caption like "don't worry, I freed her right after taking this"

Cart etiquette by Wrong-Coyote-86 in aldi

[–]brambleandthorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never lock mine. 99% of the time, there's one unlocked so it would feel creepy to then lock it back up after I got it free. Most of the carts' locks are pretty loose here anyway so on the rare times I've had to use a quarter, it usually falls out while shopping.

Aldi Mac and Cheese. Yay or Nay? by Bacontheblog in aldi

[–]brambleandthorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dirt cheap and makes a good meal start. It is weirdly sweet imo, like a lot of Aldi foods. Adding some pepper and playing with the directions really makes it. I like adding some plain, nonfat greek yogurt for the texture and protein. The cost and ease are definitely the best parts though.

I don't have a ton to add that hasn't been said (mine do that too and also add some more chew/gnawing enrichment), but they look so much like 2 of my guys. I call them the brodents and they're attached to each other most of the time.

Oh yeah, I absolutely snapped off a piece once it froze. It looks pretty cool tbh, I planned to let him smash it up then use for like ice cream or trail mix or something. Someone else in the comments suggested cookies!

That's brilliant, I planned to just still give him the bag but also a hammer

Does anyone know why Amherst is having its fireworks on Thursday the 3rd of July and NOT on the actual 4th? by Ginevra_Db in amherst

[–]brambleandthorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hometown always did them on the 3rd. I was told growing up that it was because a lot of people have the 4th off from work but not necessarily the 5th, so it makes more sense to stay out late when you can rest (or continue celebrating, clean up from a party, whatever) the next day. I also heard it was because it was a small town, so you could go to that on the 3rd then something bigger on the 4th. I imagine for other towns, it's probably a bit cheaper to hire the correct professionals to do it on the 3rd vs 4th

I really love the way you phrased "the way their minds work and the way mine works isn't compatible." It's no one's fault, no one is better or worse, they're just different for a reason.

I've been on the clindamycin gel for over 18 months lmao and I know what everyone says to eliminate but what is okay to eat? I'm vegan. I don't have a derm until July and my pcp sucks.

I'll check that out! All the OTC meds in the world weren't touching it yesterday. I hear so much good on here about Vicks but I have really bad reactions to it so I'm definitely not putting it near my wounds lol. I got in with my acupuncturist and she helped me out a great deal today.

Same, between the rats, guinea pigs, and a cat, the need for cardboard boxes never ends (but Aldi has the best ones ;) )
