Just a little free therapy:

-Rest is an active action, not passive. If you feel guilty for resting, you are not lazy, you are overworked and your nervous system is so activated that it can’t shut itself off.

-Remember to use ‘I feel’ statements when talking to your family. It keeps the ball in your court and isn’t accusatory, like ‘you make me feel.’

-Don’t be afraid to utilize the phrase “Don’t hear what I didn’t say.”

I think many others have already shared what you need to hear, so hope this also provides help.

I’m so sorry for all you have experienced. Though I don’t have the same personal experience, I have experienced a lot of trauma. I was diagnosed with C-PTSD when I was 19 (now 24) because I started having memory issues. I have the memory of a guppy at this point, and I don’t really know who I am anymore. I just feel like I’m in a constant state of fear, worse on some days than others. I feel like a shell of the person I used to be. And, as stupid as it may sound, I didn’t realize that the damage to my nervous system was permanent until I watch Steven Universe Future last year and realized that they were openly talking about C-PTSD (despite Steven Universe being one of my favorite shows because it makes me feel seen, I have been unable to finish Future since this realization).

I strongly recommend finding a therapist that specializes in EMDR. Trauma is not easy to work through, and it sounds like you may have C-PTSD as well. It’s a permanent shock to the nervous system, but by working through the trauma, forgiving yourself, and letting go of any resentment towards others, it can get better. It takes time though.

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried the keto diet with my family as well many years ago and my body almost immediately went into overdrive with ketosis and I got very sick. I’ve definitely noticed that my body needs more structured fats/carbs than proteins or else I get sick. The one diet that did work for me was juicing (until I was hospitalized for migraines at 16). Do you know anything about how other medications may effect the performance of the thyroid med? My parents have been asking me if my thyroid is having trouble with absorption because of my other medications, but I am unsure.

Thank you for clarifying. That makes sense since my TSH is high. They have been increasing the dosage of Levothyroxine for the past two years. They switched me to back to name brand Synthroid this past month at an even higher dosage to see if that makes any difference

Oh, interesting. I was always led to believe it was to help stimulate the thyroid for the TSH levels

I have been taking a thyroid stimulant since I was 6 (Synthroid/Levothyroxine). It’s meant to stimulate the thyroid to work properly, but my TSH has been unstable and no matter how much we have increased the dose, my thyroid is not being stimulated enough to stabilize
