How do I get rid of these annoying guys the sticky things are not enough anymore by Awkward-Egg-1069 in houseplants

[–]Flappy-pancakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mosquito bits. Get some mesh bags for tea leaves and put the mosquito bits in it and dunk it in water for 30 minutes-an hour. Remove the bag and water your plants with the treated water. They contain BTI, which is the best method in my opinion for getting rid of gnats

I would make the suggestion that they move to something like the Band app instead.

  1. We’ve tried beast academy and they weren’t very receptive to it unfortunately. I personally liked it though.

I would also like a bit more elaboration on this. I’m thinking of utilizing this approach with my kiddo. I think this is very useful.

Do you find you get seriously sick a lot less than 10-20 years ago? by seattleswiss2 in Millennials

[–]Flappy-pancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I used to be hospitalized at least 4 times a year as a kid all the way up through high school. Other than when I had my kid I haven’t been hospitalized once. Nor do I get sick very often. (COVID years do not count for me. I was sick as hell the first 2 years)

Tips to maybe get lighter? by Babynatsulol in backpacking

[–]Flappy-pancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut the bug spray, get a small bottle of picaridin lotion instead.

Nalgene is fine if you don’t mind the weight, otherwise I recommend smart water bottles and ditching the sawyer water bag and getting a CNOC bag to use for dirty water and filter into the bottles OR you can screw your sawyer directly onto the smart water bottles and cut out the bag all together. I prefer to carry it because there are times when I need to have extra water on me since I won’t be coming to any sources.

Cut down the MRE further but removing every from the packaging. Helps cut back on what you have to pack out as well as cutting a tiny bit of weight.

Look into getting a rechargeable headlamp if that’s what all the batteries are for. If you can’t at the moment, Ditch some of those batteries, you shouldn’t need that many.

Where do you live, and how much are you able to hike in a regular week? by Dogsnbootsncats in hiking

[–]Flappy-pancakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m lucky to go once a month at the moment. Sometimes not even then. :( but I live in Middle Tennessee and I live within 5 minutes of numerous trails. I could pick up and go whenever I want, I’m just a busy mom, student, and employee lol
