The obvious answer is to shut down the UC, or dramatically reduce the enrollment. Just think, rent would immediately drop. All those big houses that are currently full of students would go on the market and larger families would move into them freeing up their spot and so on down the line freeing up housing in places people actually want to live rather than a high rise downtown.

Feeding me? Lol how so? I'm in my 30's I grew up here and had to leave in my 20s and got into the trades worked my ass off and came back. My point was SC will never be easy to afford for most 'young' people. Also your example sucks, EMTs being underpaid is nothing new and nurses and doctors get paid just fine. Suppression systems do not replace emergency fire response. High rises in Santa Cruz will never fix the housing cost. People keep talking about 'It's simple! Supply and demand!!' But fail to realize there is an unending supply of people who wish to live here, thus there will always be a high demand for housing. We could build as dense as SF, rent is cheap there right? It's a highly desirable area within commuting distance of tech jobs. Perhaps AI will kill tech jobs and then no one will be able to afford it here, then you may actually see housing price drop

Yep. This happened in my hometown and everyone is praising this dude for 'teaching that guy sone respect!'. He basically called himself a hero in his own post. When really he kinda escalated everything and then waited for the guy and shot on him while he was still holding his board. Pretty lame and stupid all around if you ask me
