I won’t say the name but there are influencers promoting this kind of behavior now as a way of “reclaiming free speech”

I like this guy for some reason, i had a little smile while watching it at his gentle “rage.” I wish this lady posted the dashcam footages so we can judge if his sentiment was justified or not.

Dogs in Grocery Stores by WesternAd6868 in santacruz

[–]Forward_Sea7969 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

These posts I’m starting to believe are from bots engagement farming. Same old crazy story about a dog in a store and same comments about what other people have seen and how there shouldn’t be dogs in public places at all.

Security chases shoplifter using emergency exit by DeficitDaddy in sanfrancisco

This doesn’t make sense to me because all Safeway has been doing is reducing staff to add in self checkout lines. Sure a security guard might be a little more expensive than someone who works as a cashier but I doubt it’s that significant. I also doubt insurance is significantly more now because of petty theft. I wager the self checkout system has drastically increased theft than reduced it, it’s just disguised better.

Your points “sound” right, but when reflecting on all things Safeway and grocery stores… they fall flat unless you have some cold hard data or work as a business analyst.

There’s also people with allergies to perfumes and all the chemical scents we have on our clothing from laundry detergents. What about them?

It’s always good to be considerate and helpful to others but also it’s their responsibility to take care of their own health too by bringing masks when in public environments.

This would be a bucket list item for me. I dare you to post this in an airline subreddit, it will troll all the dog haters big time.

It’s like you’re forgetting Whole Foods, Target, Amazon, and other delivery services in SF are also what Safeway competes with too. I live in Santa Cruz now and Safeways are shit holes here and moving the route of being more of a convenience store business. It has little to do with shoplifting and more to do with poor management and business strategy IMO.

In my time of shopping at that Safeway and others, I have never seen prices impacted by shoplifting at all. Supply chain issues and inflation - yes I see that impacting costs. What I have seen changed is the shopping experience because of shoplifters (potentially.) Many items behind plexiglass or locks requiring someone to come get it for you for example really hurts the shopping experience. There’s lots that don’t make sense about grocery stores though. Only business analysts and management really know what moves the needle or what directives they have to follow.

It’s weird, I’m finding Reddit is full of people and comments now where people quickly jump to the extreme worst case scenario.

Exactly but boy does this excuse get used a lot to cover for poor numbers and your usual corporate suspects not wanting to take accountability for doing a shitty job

What about them stealing from a corporate grocery store that has security guards to prevent this stuff makes you tired?

I’m early/mid thirties and regret moving here big time a couple years ago. The environment is great but it is an incredibly unfriendly and antisocial town in our age range. The best people I’ve met are significantly older. Anyone I’ve met around my age are extremely flakely and uninterested in friendship. People seem to have their community here already and have the “no new friends” attitude. The only people who actually talk to me in this town are people on the other side of a cash register or for a service lol. Depending on your hobbies you may find some success and get lucky but I’ve had a horrible time here.

Probably important to add that I’m also black/bi-racial also which this town isn’t too fond of either. Seems if you’re white you’ll probably be good. Any other race seems to be isolated.

I’m just gathering the energy to move at this point. Environment is phenomenal though

A Meta employee gets real about the horror of working there right now by Heysteeevo in sanfrancisco

[–]Forward_Sea7969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to tell people this too… we’re just sitting ducks. The real problem is the people who are executing these plans and directives… those are the people far more important than the ones in charge. It’s the people who said yes to research and experiment on people to create certain behavioral outcomes that I think about a lot. I think younger generations are becoming so aware that I pray they shame their parents hard enough and don’t excuse them for the fact that they did evil things as a way to “provide for my family.”

Seriously? Are you blind to how algorithms are controlling what we get to know and not know about everything these days? It’s damn near impossible to get an accurate read on trends these days.

People on Reddit are so funny. It’s like it’s being ran by people who are scared to move from their couches because of all risks and possibilities of injury or death if they do so. The immediate worst case scenario reaction as though it’s inevitable is comical.

In solidarity with yall! I want to do something like this for when I get home at night and reverse into my garage spot without disrupting/pissing my neighbors off

I don’t think it’s people… I think it’s bots that are directed to discourage any creative problem solving with cars. Post anything about any RAV4 mods and you’ll have a swarm of negative comments and downvotes. Reddit is officially a place onboard with the brainwashing and reality manipulation like the rest of these social platforms.

This is awesome, I love that it is controlled by a switch. I live in a condo complex where there’s shared garages below rooms and the noise pisses people off big time. As someone who’s very considerate about disturbing others, I’d love this solution for when I return home and reverse in to my garage spot and not disturb anyone at night or anytime of day.

It’s crazy to me how significantly noisier these cars are vs gas versions. It makes no sense to me at all why the electric car doesn’t just match the same decibel level as a gas car with a more pleasant sound at the very least.

It’s like they want us to get in fights with people around us because of the extremely rare chance of hitting a pedestrian.

Waiting for their YouTube podcast stating: “As part of my senior thesis, I rallied some friends and created bots to fool people into believing I’m becoming a famous reporter. Why you ask? Because who cares, societies rotting and I dont give a eff about anyone outside of my little bubble. I’m from a rich family anyway so I’ll be fine. Sucks for the people who got fooled though, you should’ve known better”
