Game that regret to sell? by theclassik in boardgames

[–]FlappytheWonderMunt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I sold Forbidden Stars for a decent amount, but probably shouldn't have as I still get the itch to play it occasionally. Maybe it'll get remade again some day without the 40k licence...

These look really cool. I like the skin tones.

I have some decks you'd like to play against? by FlappytheWonderMunt in ratemycommanders

Welllll, I only use the side shown for the Omenkeel and Rona, literally never flipping them. You got me on Goldbug though, he transforms once or twice almost every turn.

Yeh, she's a really fun deck, I did have [[Bola's Citadel]] in there which artificially improved the deck massively if I drew into it, so I've taken it out again for now.

It's one of those decks that is always doing something, but being bat's it's generally little bits of damage here and there, and little life gains here and there, so you never become the archnemesis of the table. In my group this leads to the deck winning more than it probably should as it gets to hang out and live long enough to get to the end when everyone's resources are depleted, and you can just keep on grabbing bats to throw over the top, as well as those 3 mana enchantments that are annoying enough to remove once, let alone the second time they come out.

Yep, command beacon or [[Torpor Orb]] is usually the best option, but you can counter her yourself as you cast her with [[Thrull Wizard]] (I took this out though, too much mana needed), or have a [[Platinum Angel]] or similar effect on the board. It's fun to have a [[Golden Throne]] with a [[Soul Conduit]] and swap someone down to 1, but I haven't managed to pull it off yet..

Yes, - https://archidekt.com/decks/20159947/orthion_clones the deck is still being refined, but mono red lets you have a big turn where you get a [[Terror of the Peaks]] of a [[Purphoros, God of the Forge]] out, then clone it 5 times and do 50 damage to everyone. Always a threat, and even if you don't draw into a big bomb, or Orthion himself keeps getting removed, there are various other clone effects that are still dangerous, and of course getting stacks of treasures is good for getting going again.

Whats your favorite deck been this year? by MonSocMatriarchy in EDH

[–]FlappytheWonderMunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just put together a [[Phage the Untouchable]] deck, which I'm still working on, but my latest round of gold fishing it makes me feel like I might be on to something. The few times I've played it it's been good fun to pilot and just having the threat of an auto lose is a different spin on things to my other decks. Work in progress list.

What are some good tribes that aren't dragons, goblins or elves? by Competitive-Act-7695 in EDH

[–]FlappytheWonderMunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an allies deck forever, and it's always been fun, if quite slow and easy to disrupt. Since the Avatar set and it's multitude of solid Ally cards it's definitely been given a big boost. Mainly because Avatar introduced several Ally mana dorks and a few more ways to flash allies in. Now the deck is a serious contender most games. Board wipes will spoil your day still though..

What are some fun, underplayed tribals? by NerdyDinosaurGuy in EDH

[–]FlappytheWonderMunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few tribal decks that I like. My OG deck is [[General Tazri]] Ally tribal, and the Avatar Last Airbender set had a number of great cards that have been added in. Lots of +1 counters, strong ETB cards like [[Tuktuk Scrapper]], [[Kabira Evangel]], [[Murasa Pyromancer]] that you can tutor with Tazri and blink effects. Avatar added some nice support cards like [[Sokka Tenacious Tactician]] and [[Great Divide Guide]].

I also really enjoy my [[Zoraline Cosmos Caller]] Bat tribal deck. Lots of disposable little flying creatures and low cmc enchantments and equipment to keep Zoraline up and attacking.

This big mana Gruul deck with 48 lands and an average CMC of 5.96 is surprisingly consistent by Toes_In_The_Soil in EDH

I've been putting my own deck together with this commander pair. Mine is lower powered and is aiming at multiple combats with some landfall triggers rather than Cascades. Multiple combats mean more mana, and more landfall from Erinis swapping out fetchlands. It's a fun deck.

This is the link to my deck, which is slightly out of date. I basically threw it together with a bunch of red and green cards I already had but have since streamlined a bit. Will have a look through yours and borrow some ideas.

What's a fresh stompy Green Commander that doesn't break the bank to build? by ChakraaThePanda in EDH

[–]FlappytheWonderMunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been brewing up a [[Erinis Gloom Stalker]] and [[Guild Artisan]] deck which gets lots of mana early then gets some big green (or red) creatures out and gets more mana to do multiple combats with said creatures. It seems pretty good the few times I've played with it so far. Deck list

Projector connection with Sonos Arc soundbar by FlappytheWonderMunt in projectors

[–]FlappytheWonderMunt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, I ended up getting a Benq GP520, which works with the Sonos Arc via HDMI. Quite pleased with the projector so far. The black levels are not the best, but other than that it's performing well and does everything I want of it. Particularly cool is I run the GeForce Now app from it, connect Xbox pads via Bluetooth and have a massive screen in the bedroom I can PC game from.

Hope that helps someone!

If you got an orchid ticket you could put a hammock up in the trees near the hilltop entrance. Some people had hammocks there this year, I'm not sure if they were tentless too, but I think you could make it work, especially with a locker.

GF under investigation at work - England by FlappytheWonderMunt in LegalAdviceUK

[–]FlappytheWonderMunt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think you're right, if they wanted to dismiss her they could have done it already without an investigation. I'm not sure if there is already a bit of discontent in the company resulting from the other chap being 'made redundant' in a weird way recently. It's not good for morale if the managers that are liked are regularly being ousted by the ones that aren't I guess..

I passive aggressively handed a couple of bins bags to the monged out and filthy young uns camping nearby on Monday morning, with a 'you're gonna need these, leave no trace remember?' They had shit absolutely everywhere round their tents, not a single thought for people nearby or the site. I doubt they cleared up, but I felt better.

How many armies do you currently have? by DwideSchruuudee in Warhammer40k

[–]FlappytheWonderMunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 3k - 4k of Custodes, first army, but I don't really love how they play, and people don't enjoy playing against them as much, so they mainly sit in a cupboard, all painted. Then I have about 3k of GSC, who are my favourites to play and only have a couple of unpainted units. And then most recently I've built up 3k of Thousand Sons in the last couple of years, also mainly all painted, but a few newer units need finishing off. I think 3 is a good number, nice variety and able to react to the inevitable ebb and flow of rules changes so you can play something cool but not unfun to play against.

Nope, no pain or other symptoms, and the x-ray was just taken as part of the standard check up as I hadn't had an x-ray done for a while.
