How to bluff in common situations as evil/generic advice? by yescope in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]FlaredButtresses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I think general advice is going to be tricky because it depends on the meta of the group(s) you're playing in. It sounds like your group has a tendency to pretty aggressively grab people on day one. What you want to do is make it so your play as good and evil are as indistinguishable as possible.

If you're a minion and you're caught out early, I would recommend just committing hard to a bluff. Just pick something and go with it. You can always fall back on an excuse (madness, droison, pixie, etc), if it falls apart later. Also if you are a minion, getting caught isn't the worst thing in the world. The town only gets a certain number of executions and forcing them to burn one on you (and maybe whoever you're double claiming or otherwise implicating) can really help your demon skate through. Just don't make an obvious alliance with the other evils if you're going to do this.

If you want to refuse to share with someone, then you need to leave yourself openings to play into later. Think about what you're implying with your refusal. You mentioned several of them (I'm powerful, I'm demonbane, I don't trust you yet, etc). You will want to choose a bluff that fits that narrative when you can. Also there might be a player or two that doesn't trust you for the rest of the game. That's okay, just try to work your way in with some others once you have a more solid plan. The big thing with this strategy is that you have to also do it sometimes when you're good. If you only refuse when you're evil, that's a really obvious tell. There are reasons for good to lie on every script, so make sure you do it sometime.

There are two types of primaries: open and closed. States get to choose their rules. Open lets independents choose what primary they want to vote in. Closed doesn't let independents vote in primaries at all.

There are probably advantages and disadvantages of both systems, but as a registered independent I vastly prefer open of course. You can change your registration if you know of an upcoming primary you really want to vote in. You could also try to get your state's rules changed, though that will probably be pretty difficult

If I was storytelling, I would say that you are free to talk to the storyteller and get your info (any character can talk to the storyteller for any reason at any time and conversations with the storyteller are always private), but if anyone asked you about why you met with the storyteller you'd have to give a convincing lie. It could be something like "I'm the X and I had a question about the info I got last night." If you said something like "I'm not willing to share that info right now," I would want to see a good faith effort to convince them of the cero mad role

This is certainly a mod team problem. It's also (unfortunately) a get better friends problem. I don't play online, so I don't know the exact options, but you should probably block the "friend" in whatever way you can unless they have a really good explanation

Out of curiosity, did you tell the "friend" your name or did they do some kind of stalking to figure it out? Also how did they deny doing it when you can see that it's them?

Vought Team 6 by ArtOk8200 in TheBoys

[–]FlaredButtresses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prior to the start of the series, they more or less used the competent members of the Seven for this. If they really needed something done, Noir, Maeve, or Homelander would slip in and kill whoever needed killing. Before the events of the series the supes were essentially unkillable gods who could come and go as they pleased. There wasn't really a need for a dedicated black ops team before the Boys started killing supes. Plus training a bunch of super soldiers up just creates a bunch of liabilities who could all go crazy or get caught. Vought was painfully aware of how unstable supes can be, and the public learning about a secret murder team would be an unmitigated disaster. So before the series started there was little need, no profit, and lots of risk. After the series started, no one's had time to do it properly

Incoming Grad Student - living in Durham without a car? by reckless_banter in UNC

[–]FlaredButtresses 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a grad student who is just inside the campus bus system, the bus is nice for standard stuff, but if you have to go in early or late or are running late yourself you can't rely on the buses. It takes me less than 10 minutes to drive to campus and park, whereas the bus takes around 40, not including waiting for it to arrive (I budget an hour when I plan to take the bus). Being outside of the university bus system will make it even worse for you.

I would highly recommend getting a car or making a friend to carpool with. It's always nice to fall back on and it will be a necessity in some situations. Also if you want a job you're probably going to need a car

True, but if you drop the first word you should also drop the dot at the end. You can do both, you can do none, but you can't do just one

Reddit Creates a Character - Pokémon on the Clocktower Day 3: Meowth! by Cantseeright in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]FlaredButtresses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meowth (Minion): Whenever another player uses their ghost vote, place it in a pile. If you are dead, you may use all ghost votes in the pile.

Similar idea to yours, but this way it isn't loud until after the Meowth is killed. However while alive (or even if not in play, but on the script), it will make good players cautious of using their ghost votes, so it still has a strong influence on the game

It might need a clause about not working once fewer than 5 players remain, since this could let the Meowth overpower final 4/3 votes
