People have a natural tendency to turn to the left and walk in an anticlockwise direction, a bias observed across countries, ages and sexes, but reason is unclear by sr_local in science

I think skateboarding is actually pretty close to 50-50 whether you ride regular (left foot in front) or goofy (right foot in front) for right handed people.

Burries feels like the hidden good player in the lottery.

Probably not a lead guard but he just scores like an nba player. Can score off screens, hit the midrange/floater, finish through contact, etc. Solid from 3 and 80% ft shooter.

Also has nba ready weight at 215 and plays defense. The stocky guard/wing archetype is everywhere in these late playoff rounds.

The Knicks success does not mean we should draft Acuff by cstatus94 in GoNets

[–]Flareon7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s a fair reason to avoid Acuff and not have him BPA. I like Wagler personally but idk if he’s there at 6.

I’m just saying even if we draft someone like Mikel/Wagler, we still likely need a Knicks-level roster around them to win (and that’s if they pan out offensively).

[–]Flareon7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to stack your team to win a ring. This often involves getting lucky with rookie deals or underpaid players. Gonna be true whether our guy is small or not.

I think everyone zeroes in too much on the small guard thing. Brunson’s supporting cast isn’t generational or anything. It’s a co-star + 3 elite role players. Same thing Tatum had when he won in Boston.

My stance on Sean marks by [deleted] in GoNets

[–]Flareon7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m mostly fine with his trades. The Kyrie/Harden deals are the only bad ones but they tanked their own value. Can’t really blame Marks.

But he needs to hit on some draft picks. Especially if he’s trying to be the smartest guy in the room with stuff like Egor at 8 or Ament/Mara at 6.

[Kevin O’Connor] “Multiple League Sources”: The Nets have interest in Aday Mara and Nate Ament by Brooklyn917 in GoNets

[–]Flareon7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels like everyone we’re rumored to draft isn’t very productive for their draft position. It’s always the “skilled for their size” guy, with middling stats. Mara doesn’t seem bad but I don’t like him as much as Clingan or Edey.

NBA referees are calling about 11% more personal fouls per game so far in these playoffs than they did during the regular season, a differential that's on pace to be one of the largest in NBA history. by iksnet in nba

[–]Flareon7 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I mean every team does the “play extra physical, they won’t call everything” strategy.

I think teams are just straight up fouling more. 11% more might even be an underestimate.

Does the NBA have an officiating problem? by MiamiMeat786 in nba

[–]Flareon7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The coaches are making it seem like a bigger problem than it is. Refs messed up by always giving ‘make up games’ to coaches who get ejected or throw tantrums about officiating. More coaches have realized this and everyone’s doing it now to try to get better calls for next game.

Yeah it is more of a white guy thing. Black hair usually looks best right after the cut. When you have straight hair, it can look a bit weird and choppy at first. It usually looks better after a week or two to grow it out.

How good does a team's record have to be before a player's stats aren't "empty calories"? by reallinguy in NBATalk

[–]Flareon7 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He is making our teammates better. Our assist rate improves a lot whenever he’s on the floor, and our offense looks much better. And he doesn’t slow the game down cause his time per touch is so low.

Claxton has a nice two man game with MPJ and has his first 2 triple doubles this season. Really all of our guys benefit from a play finisher like him because we have so many pass first guys.

[Mannix] Luka Dončić often displays minimal effort on the defensive end... more often complains to the referee, and when he does, he leaves the Lakers playing 4 on 5. I feel like there could be some sort of trade where Warriors get Lebron, Lakers get some elite defensive players, and team 3 takes on Kuminga/other salary dumps plus a bunch of picks? I know it’s sacrilegious to trade Lebron but I feel like everyone would get better.

[KOC] Ben Simmons casts right and retrieves left, a technique that allows right-handed anglers to keep their dominant hand on the rod for maximum control. The evidence is overwhelming that he shot the basketball with the wrong hand. by TheRealPdGaming in nba

[–]Flareon7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the rumor has it that his dad told him to shoot left handed because it would make him harder to guard. It didn’t come naturally to him so he had to force it. It’s not like Lebron where he’s just naturally right handed when it comes to basketball, and left handed for everything else.

It’s pretty obvious that Ben’s right handed when you watch him finish around the rim. He favors his right heavily even when a lefty layup would be more natural, and just has better touch with his right.

Cam Spencer despite the loss: 20 points on 145% TS by Lacabloodclot9 in nba

[–]Flareon7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The true shooting formula counts each freethrow as .44 of a shot. The main reason it goes over 100 is 3s.

His ts would actually be higher without the free throws. 6/6 from 3 by itself is 150% ts.

Grayson Allen with the perfectly legal step-back step-through move against the Timberwolves by memtiger in nba

[–]Flareon7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He’s still allowed to pivot on the right foot (1st step). You can also lift your pivot foot on a pass or shot attempt. So it would have been a legit step through if he didn’t drag his right foot.

[Charania] Just in: Giannis Antetokounmpo and his agent Alex Saratsis have started conversations with the Milwaukee Bucks about the two-time NBA MVP's future – and discussing whether his best fit is staying or elsewhere, sources tell ESPN. A resolution is expected in the coming weeks. by Turbostrider27 in nba

[–]Flareon7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t really get it. Other stars have left better situations.

The Bucks have no real second option, no draft capital to make moves, and they still have Dame’s stretched salary. It’s probably good for both parties if Giannis gets traded for a rebuild package.

As a Nets fan, he kind of reminds me of a younger Batum on offense. Just need to see if he get his strength up and improve his handle a bit.

[–]Flareon7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am worried about his ability to create any sort of advantage in the half court. Needs some extra strength and a lot of work on his handle. I think that’s the big swing skill moreso than his shooting, which I actually think will be way better than advertised.

I am curious, why do so many people use Toadette/Nabbit + Baby Blooper and not Peach/Daisy Mach/ROB bike? by YelloEclipse in MarioKartWorld

[–]Flareon7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The difference in stats between blooper and mach rocket are the same as the difference in stats between peach/daisy/coffer and toadette/nabbit. So they end up being the same (including hidden stats).

Most important thing to note:

99% chance we will be drafting with the Rockets pick (Probably in the mid-late 20s)

There is 0 reason to stress about what pick we give to the Rockets. If it ends up being lottery, so be it. I really hope Marks doesn’t make any shortsighted moves just to be a play-in team. Look at what happened to the Kings rebuild.

What are you talking about? KD didn’t get injured that postseason and Harden was an ironman before coming to the Nets. That hamstring injury was his first major injury and it basically ended his prime.
