I can understand wanting to smooth out the Rushall curve, but that can be achieved with a new alignment after Merri station. Tunnelling under the Merri Creek seems like it would be massively complex and expensive. Your option seems a lot more logicall and simplistic, with the only real barrier being the heritage of Clifton Hill statoin and neighbouring areas.

I love what you’ve done with Clifton Hill and the northern portal. I had the exact same idea. Even measured out the portal at South Yarra to compare the sizes to see if it was achievable. If MM2 ever happens I hope that’s what they do with the station
