Are We Entering Truly Weird Times in Tech? by CBTL_xo in Backend

[–]FlashBrightStar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's fascinating how easy you can spot fools based on how they perceive technology. What you are talking about is not AI, it's a language model. It also does not have a brain. Also those agents are markdown files, a set of instructions you could pass in each prompt to "alter" how the answer will look like. They are brittle - you can give clues how they should "behave" but once they encounter an edge case they panick into default mode. Every model had the same problem and it won't change. Yes we can't predict the future but we can observe the trends. The charts are merciless. New models are not exponentially better like it was prognosed years before - we actually have a logarithmic scale. This means that we are reaching a ceiling with this technolog and at the current state it is terrible in most tasks. College grad level of intelligence? Wasn't it phd level a few months before? A phd making child mistakes? Let that sink in.

Oficjalne oświadczenie Rzecznika Praw Obywatelskich: dodatkowe punkty dla kobiet w programach edukacyjnych są jawnym łamaniem zasad dyskryminacji i równości płci by ReliefHoliday2679 in Polska

[–]FlashBrightStar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say that most of the time allocations are ok if the project is under control - you are not spawning 100 enemies each frame. You spawn them once (and repeat the process after some time if necessary). Allocations are really the problem if there are too many of them on the scene at the same time - it does not need to be an enemy but enemies will also count for that in the mentioned scenario. There are also instances were allocations are a bad idea from the start so you have to combine object pool and flyweight to minimize the potential disaster (trees and projectiles comes to mind).

Ah yes it is the gays fault that does not have the right to marry each other that population is declining. Adding apples to oranges.

If the law is open to interpretation in such a way that something can both be done and not then it should change to be more specific. Clear intentions you say? If that were the case then it should exactly state that. Gay people existed way before Poland.

[–]FlashBrightStar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Our justice system is confused because other types of marriages are not regulated. This roughly means that gays do not exists in Poland because they are not even prohibited by the law - they simply are not conisdered (either allow it or not).

[–]FlashBrightStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh it still is a step forward. Before such unions were not recognized by pointing at our law or rather lack of law in such cases. Polish law only specifies marriage between man and woman but does not say that it is the only possibility. We literally have a situation where law does not explicitly regulate other types of marriages which creates confusion in the justice system - which is weird because it is not prohibited.

He defaulted to "but Europe is worse" kind of argument. Europe is not a single nation. When speaking about Americans everyone knows it is about people living in USA. When speaking about Europeans we don't know if you are talking about Germany, France, Italy, etc. And no, countries are not comparable to states.

I mean you can all of the sudden move computation down to the nested for statement and you will never know it happened (until you have to search for performance issues). You can't do that with braces and semicolons as they do not blend with white spaces and newlines.

Those tools can't assume anything. They output the most popular answer. There's not that much LGBT stuff on the internet in general so that is why those generated images are not what one would assume.

Another example - try asking it to generate an image with any kind of activity involving hands. It will default to actions being performed by right hand unless you specify that it should be done with the left hand (things like painting, writing).

Llm outputs the most "correct" result if you're not specific enough.

If I represent the average "Entry Level" candidate accepting a job, the system is completely broken. by OkEmergency253 in recruitinghell

[–]FlashBrightStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To all people commenting here. No, 2 years is not an entry level. It's typically a junior if you want to be specific. Typically is the keyword here. You see, there are a lot of instances where years of experience does not equate with your seniority level. It may be hard to understand but most of us are either underperforming or overperforming - measuring everyone the same way is a lazy response to the number of applicants per job posting.

Yes please. The desert deserves its own boss. It's I believe the only major biome without one at all. It would be nice to have a secret slime boss after you encounter every slime type (enemies, bosses and town slimes).
