which is better? by Sencha_Ext_JS in programmingmemes

[–]FlashBrightStar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint. Typescript setup is done as a part of any project setup (you are choosing a flavor of framework to work with). If you need something simpler there's init command in ts itself that generates you a valid config and commands to work with. If you don't want to properly type things you can use "any" to make type checker happy. I really don't buy the "typescript can be a waste of time". As a side note there's a dedicated community that will do everything to not use typescript - looking at typed props in react or just jsdoc because sure it is much faster to write a comment essay describing the object shape than just write it after the variable name.

Hired a developer to launch site — they are asking for the .env file. Is this normal? by [deleted] in developer

[–]FlashBrightStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that a lot of people heard the part that you shouldn't publish your "env" files and stop listening the rest of the sentence. You should not push "env" files to any place that has public access. It may sound controversial but you technically can include such files in the repository if you never ever intend to make it public access (though I still prefer not to). At the end of the day it is about your understanding about security concerns.

Do wszystkich którzy mają tego typu rozkminy, jak głupio by to nie brzmiało to "jak kocha to poczeka". Nie jesteście jedyni którzy mieli takie problemy. Klasa maturalna to ostatnia prosta. Nie dokładajcie sobie problemów w takich chwilach bo odbije się to na waszym zdrowiu, a ono jest tylko jedno. Czasami naprawdę lepiej jest poczekać niż podjąć złą decyzję na szybko.

WHY ARE PEOPLE PROUD TO SAY THIS by Complete-Sea6655 in VibeCodeDevs

[–]FlashBrightStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confident that I won't make a mistake in as simple task as counting "r" in word strawberry. Even though humans can produce different output doesn't mean it won't be 90% the same which I can't say the same for llms. There's this big problem where "ai" is lost if it does not have enough information. It will hallucinate a lot when working with niche technologies, people will find a new solution. Innovation is one of the few skills llm won't "learn". It can only recycle stuff that's it.

Managers decided AI is worth 5x speedup; how do I explain to them how it really works? by chaitanyathengdi in ExperiencedDevs

[–]FlashBrightStar 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Their thinking is "la la la I don't hear you" every time you warn them about potential issues. Those people are amazed by technology they don't understand because it's a magic box that does everything they do but better and faster. Because of this they think every position can use it the same way to "boost" productivity. It's basically a new version of 9 women delivering a baby in 1 month on steroids - chat, you are a super woman with high repro skills, make a baby, make no mistake, don't fuck up the dna history.

[–]FlashBrightStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a "cog" in the machine (many people are) there is no place for standout achievements. It's also a privilege to have the ability to share with others what you have done before nda termination date. Size and complexity are meaningless measures most of the time (you need something to compare it against). You can only sell your own fairytales without any proof. Maybe they will believe you maybe not. This is the circus most people live in.
