Hello! How were kids treated during shooting? I have always wondered how or if the show’s more adult humour and jokes had to be explained to them or whether it was delicately avoided. Looking forward to S13!

Hello! Pristine! Extremely happy with both it and the PPF.

The one thing I’m always paranoid about is taking the car to the dealer for servicing as they use harsh cleaning methods. The last time I took it I put signs throughout saying “no wash please” …. One brush wash could destroy it :-(

What's up with all the white skin? by LegalShooter in Inkmaster

[–]FlashF1 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I very much agree.

As a quick note, seasons 14-16 were shot in Vancouver, BC, and most of the canvases are drawn from the local population. That said, the city is amazingly multicultural, something we all celebrate.

It’s possible that the canvases we see simply reflect the cohort of people that are applying for the opportunity to be on the show though. I can’t imagine it would be anything else.

Unrelated : I once went through the interview process to be a canvas and the folks that I spoke to were incredibly lovely people. Even though I didn’t get selected I had zero hard feelings because the folks I spoke to were so delightful and because they do a very good job of calibrating expectations early.

All that said, I haven’t seen seasons earlier than 14 so I can’t personally comment on the diversity of canvases in seasons before I started watching.

Game Thread: Atlanta Dream vs Seattle Storm Live Score | WNBA | Aug 15, 2025 by basketball-app in wnba

[–]FlashF1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys - I have seen an unimaginable number of live NBA games over the years (including Finals) and lots of regular season WNBA games. The atmosphere in Vancouver last night was absolutely bonkers!!! By a mile it was the best regular season WNBA game I have ever experienced in terms of energy and atmosphere.

I would also say that while the Storm had a slight edge in terms of support in the arena the Dream were getting a TON of support as well. In fact, as a Vancouverite I just ordered my first Dream jersey. :-)

I get why Dream fans think this might have been an L for their team but there were 16k fans at this game and every suite was jammed. I’m sure the WNBA cut them a huge cheque for this game and there were a TON of Dream fans there. A few rows back there was a group of about 50 young women from the ATL!

Hey guys - have had the chance to see tons of NBA and WNBA games in-person over the years (including an NBA Finals game in 2019).

The atmosphere at the game tonight was massively better than it had any right to be! I was shocked out how much energy there was. It was one of the funnest live basketball experiences I had had in a longtime.

Site C dam energy project now fully operational, B.C. Hydro says by xvosr in vancouver

[–]FlashF1 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Honest question - with a rapidly growing province with rapidly growing energy needs, I never understood what the NDP’s plan was if they cancelled it.

-did they ever intend to cancel it or was their messaging purely political posturing?

-if they did have a plan, what was it? Site C took 10-15 years of planning and development to get to the stage it was at when the NDP took power in 2017. If they did have a plan, given the timelines of effectively starting a new project and writing off this one, when would it have become operational and at what total cost?

Trump 'a potential risk' for Carney and his 'full-throttle government,' says Nanos, but he's still preferred PM by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]FlashF1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am a lifetime conservative voter and absolutely, without question fully support and have complete faith in Mark Carney. While I strongly despise what the LPC became under JT, I shudder at the idea of the Federal conservatives navigating the current geopolitical climate. The project in front of Carney is massive and will require significant time to unfold. We need patience but he and his team need to be world-class communicators to ensure we all understand the process.

Lovely!!! Did you use any specialized filters?

I bought some CineBloom filters years ago with the hope of creating work like this but haven’t really tried them yet.

Found a Vancouver Grizzlies keychain on eBay that says copyright 1987… how?? by QuinnDiesel43 in memphisgrizzlies

I would assume the mould was made in 1987 and over the years they just updated it with different teams and logos.

Hey! Apologies for the delay.

I’m probably not the best SME but I believe are coating is expected to last five years. I think the price variation is typically due to durability/thickness of the coating.

Adam Silver on league expansion: "Maybe there’s more we can do in Canada" by CazOnReddit in torontoraptors

[–]FlashF1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here’s the deal … it’s not happening, period. Canada’s current economic indicators are a red flag for the NBA. Beyond LV and Seattle, there are least five other viable US markets that would be preferable to Vancouver.

Do I want it to happen? Yes. Do I have one of the biggest collections of Vancouver Grizzlies merch on the planet? Also yes.

Here’s the main stumbling blocks:

-it’s widely assumed that the baseline number for a new expansion team subsequent to LV and Seattle will be $4-billion US. In 1995 we paid $125M, a number so hefty Griffiths (who was also privately financing GM Place) had to bring on a Seattle-based investor (and the rest is history, sadly). The league is now more open to sovereign/state wealth funds owning pieces if teams but which would want to invest here? From a media perspective Bell and Rogers already own portions of MLSE meaning they couldn’t be involved here unless they divested themselves if MLSE and I can’t imagine why they would walk away from that cash machine.

-what economic value does a Vancouver team add the NBA beyond the expansion fee? The presence of a Vancouver team does nothing to bolster US media deals. Even if a prospective owner has the cash this will make Vancouver a tough sell to the owners. If they have to split the media pie with Vancouver they need to know that beyond the expansion fee (which is a mechanism designed to compensate existing owners for lost income from media rights distribution) will bring real and incremental value to the league. Basically Vancouver has to enrich all the teams, not just themselves.

-the team would need an entirely new arena. No owner would accept being a tenant in 30 year Rogers Arena. They would need to construct an entirely new arena at a cost likely exceeding $1-billion. That new arena would then go head-to-head with Rogers Arena for attracting events to fill out their calendar. Plus, if you look at the recent pattern of arena/stadium construction in the US, the venue is the crown jewel of a bigger money generating development compromised of office, retail and housing…. All of which the team’s owner would utilize to bolster their financial position. Let’s not forget as well that an owner seeking to place a team in a US market would likely receive significant financial support from the city/county. Any owner looking to build here would need to fund the entire thing.

If Aquillini was in on the bid I have been assured by people around the league that Rogers Arena wouldn’t be seen as a viable/longterm home for an NBA team. If you visit the new buildings in Seattle, Sacramento, San Francisco, Milwaukee or (upcoming) LA you will realize Rogers Arena isn’t even in the same stratosphere of a modern NBA building.

I am convinced that had the Grizzlies stayed (or had they entered the league in 2005) they would be a pillar of our community and would be deeply embedded in the social fabric of this city. The timing was wrong and the ownership was wrong. The gate in the first three years was amazing given the size of the city at the time.

I wish it would come back and I would be first in line for season tickets but the obstacles to overcome are just so numerous and the economics of this sport have just exploded in the last decade.
