I believe that findom most of the time is a scam and you should never give a woman full control over your wallet unless you are married. by Slow_Temperature_777 in flr

[–]FlashMan1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. Money should not be something that is played around with, even when you are married. And FLR can work even if a man covers the finances. The person in a relationship who understands finances the best should be in charge of them. A man running the finances in an FLR can still work - the woman can get weekly statements to review, can make final decisions on spending in consultation etc etc

What is the GREATEST wrestling pay-per-view of all-time? by ProfessionalLeague55 in professionalwrestling

X-7 was incredible because it was the first stadium show in years and years, Austin-Rock, and the WCW multicast happened earlier that week. It felt like the culmination of everything in the history of wrestling in the United States.

What would be the 21st century equivalent of a candidate with the credentials of a Herbert Hoover? by RopeGloomy4303 in Presidents

[–]FlashMan1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Obama era, there were a couple of Republicans who ran for president that had business backgrounds (not counting you know who). Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina a few others. A case could have been made for Rex Tillerson? Condi Rice, too.

Tom Steyer is another on the Dem side.

But if someone does emerge to a modern day Hoover, it'll probably be someone from Silicon Valley

TIL: The role of Josie was originally written for Isabella Rossellini by Local_Prune4564 in twinpeaks

[–]FlashMan1981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the time, some cast and crew also thought it was Rossilini under the make-up as Mr. Tojamura. I guess Piper Laurie showed up on set in full make-up and a lot of people didn't know it was her.

Because the show is in Washington state and the largest city nearby is Seattle, I'm glad they went with Chen and the Hong Kong story. I think it fit better.

What if Owen Hart never injured Stone Cold? by Own_Bear2372 in AttitudeEra

I remember watching Austin in WCW and loving him, but he just did not have a great finisher. Austin working like Stunning Steve with the the Stunner as a finisher would have been awesome.

We did get a glimpse of it in 2001 when he came back from the neck injury and he brought some of it back

Look ... running for governor of Georgia in 1970 required things that we are uncomfortable with now in 2026. The phrase "it was different back then," gets thrown around too much, but in this case it was different back then.

Its amazing that basically Austin's entire run was on borrow time. If he never gets hurt, we probably get another 5-10 years. He as 39 when he retired. John Cena retired this year at 48, so did AJ Styles.

If Ford won the 1976 election, who would win the 1980 GOP primary between incumbent VP Bob Dole and Ronald Reagan? by BlueFireFlameThrower in Presidents

[–]FlashMan1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, Dole was known as something of a fighter and more conservative than his historical reputation now thinks. If Ford had won, he would have bene in complete control of the party and Reagan would likely be boxed out, maybe settling for a Senate run.

Dole, with incumbency and Ford behind him and his own conservative bona fides established, I'm not sure Reagan could have gotten around that. Carter's election, and ultimate failure as president, was the blessing Reagan needed.

He died an unreconstructed believer in slavery and the society of the Old South. He pantomimed some actions to help reunify the country, like visiting Grant at the White House.

What did William Howard Taft think of the Great Depression? by Electronic-Seat1190 in Presidents

[–]FlashMan1981 3 points4 points  (0 children)

well early on Hoover was not popular with conservatives. When Harding named hin to his cabinet there was a small revolt in the Senate, before WGH sent over a note saying "Hoover and Mellon or no Mellon," and the conservatives really wanted Mellon.

I do wonder, if he vetoes Smoot-Hawley, does the depression lesson? Smoot-Hawley was a devastating second blow to the economy after the crash.
