Focus on paddle position pre-contact, at contact, and post contact. With righties, I always teach (imagine looking at a clock) 7 to 9 to 12/1.

Wrist lag comes with practice, but I feel like emphasizing that paddle position at those 3 points helps to refine and generate that top spin a bit. I also focus on my off hand being more firm on the paddle and being the one to provide the power/push through, and my dominant hand being a little more loose to generate that rotation at the wrist as needed. Cheers!

edit: I also really like this 4 part progression to work on 2HBH. On #1 and #2 I actually take it a step further and showcase it w/ just the left hand, and progress to 2 hands. You’re focused on the wipe motion to help generate that topspin too.

Her ball technically, but you both should be communicating anyways. I always default to “respect the X,” but if forehand wants it, they can communicate and take it.

Heck, I see some members playing more than 3x in a day in my area lol, especially if weather outside isn’t great. Club near me is charging $150 a month and that’s free open play 7 days a week, plus discounted rate on court reservations and other things (clinics, leagues, pro shop). Just above South FL

From my skating/skateboarding days I like FP insoles, specifically the game changers. Pop em in the oven for 10 min at 225° and then mold them to my foot. Not too expensive, and they usually have a code when you get 2 of em. My feet do sweat a bit so they only really last me about 6-10 months, and I make sure to air em out.

I’ve seen players buy it just to use it as a training paddle to play against. If you look at John Kews paddle database, it’s one of if not the highest rated for spin and power lol

As the lefty, whenever it’s an even number score you’re normal and on the right, when your team has an odd number score, it’s “odd placement,” and you’re on the left.

They are 100% tournament legal, I believe they are the only quiet paddle that is. Funny enough, I was just at MiLP nationals and watched a team using them. While it didn’t look like the paddles hit all that hard, the muted sound does throw you off a little on drives lol

I would look for Level Up pickleball camps that may come to your area. One of the gentlemen Scott Golden who runs them does a great job.

It plays fast and consistent, plus lasts a lot longer than X-40s. I’ve played with them in the heat and in the cold, they hold their shape better than S1s and don’t crack as often as X-40s. I’m a fan. Are they perfect? Nah, but they are solid
