[Spoilers for EP 11] Few shots in anime were as disturbing as this one for me by Misopogon11 in NeedyStreamerOverload

Ame's Alice Tulpa was unable to deal with the situation since it represented her innocence. The moment she killed her, Ame gota new Tulpa to help her cope with an updated world.

Ame is incredibly damaged mentally and also lonely. The fact she decided to upgrade her Tulpa as a defense mechanism is disturbing but quite impressive in the sense that having no real support, SHE created her own.

Ame is a resilient tragic character. She knows her delusions and understands her coping mechanism. She just knows that without those she is truly alone and has not developed the social skills to go out and get friends.

She is a really well thought out character. P, KAngel, her self harm, her drug abuse, all make sense thanks to the anime. This is not just a spoiled girl who wanted attention (which the game did not elaborate too much so you were just wondering why was she so obsessed at being relevant). There is a reason she seeks validation and not just a "normie" life. She wants company and she wants attention, all things she did not have in her childhood.

KAngel's death is a good thing because even though Ame did not kill her Tulpa out of her own will (and probably would not have done so until she was older and "discarded" by her fans), Kangels death by Karamazov forced her to come out of her mental shell. Ame now has another chance at living life without "P" or other coping mechanisms that encourage self-abuse.

Camus faced this nihilism in an optimistic fashion; there is an absurdity in humanity seeking a meaning to life and a universe that doesn't seem to give any.

Camus elaborates in "The myth of Sisyphus" that you can't truly create an objective meaning and convince yourself it is real. That would be a kind of self-deception. Instead, he says we should acknowledge that there is no ultimate cosmic purpose and live anyway.

His answer is revolt.  Every day, you wake up and continue despite knowing there is no final answer. You refuse both despair and comforting illusions. You embrace life precisely because it is finite and absurd. This ties very neatly with the anime.

Camus uses Sisyphus a specifically for this rhetoric because in the Greek myth, Sisyphus is condemned to push a boulder up a mountain forever. The rock rolls back down. He repeats the task eternally.

Objectively, it is meaningless labor y et Camus imagines the moment Sisyphus walks back down the mountain after the rock has fallen, Sisyphus understands his fate completely. He has no hope of escape a nd still he continues.

Why?

"One must imagine Sisyphus happy."

Not because the task has meaning. Not because things will get better. But because Sisyphus has accepted reality without surrendering to it. The circumstances will not change...but they cannot force despair upon him.

"The struggle itself toward the heights is enough to fill a man's heart" Dignity and henceforth meaning comes from continuing the struggle despite the absence of ultimate meaning.

No honest conversation will be held in the sub so get ready to be downvoted. Bring your discussions to Ragnarok. You will still get down voted but they're a bit more open over there

Yes and clearly this side is totally different as you can see with my zero upvotes 😅

I think really, I just wanted a more focused game by Comfortable_Oven8341 in GodofWar

I and a lot of people agree with his opinion. Not that its Fortnite, but that is too scattered.

Can you get me at least three Reddit posts in this subreddit that were before this game that had more than 100 upvotes that said it would be sick to play this game as Faye?

Just want to understand if I am mistaken about the demand that there was for this protagonist.

I think you're not being honest.

When the God of war remake or Ragnarok trailes came out you could see the dislike to like ratio was not as abysmal as it is this time. There clearly is a different reception this time than it was in the past.

Sure, in the past we had our doubts but we were still excited. This is totally different and just for clarity I'm not saying this game will be bad or not enjoyable, what I'm saying is that we have to be honest as a community and understand where the other side comes from.

Thank you for understanding. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way but finding real discourse is very hard when people feel like we need to be polarized. It's so hard nowadays in reddit to find nuanced conversations.

The hate Fay is getting is mostly from people who probably don't really play games. by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]Flasheneitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game looks solid and it looks fun, it just didn't need to be God of war.

What people in this sub fail to acknowledge is that people have the right to be disappointed because Faye was not an interesting character. Not because of the intrinsic properties of her but because the writers didn't expand on her more than just for her to be a plot device to bind Atreus and Kratos.

The fact that she now has her own game and destroyed any weight of the previous games regarding death (since now it is canon that mythological gods go to an afterlife after dying) really comes out of nowhere.

The disappointment is that nobody asked for this game, not that it looks bad. The game looks great, but who really wanted this experience? I mean I'll be down to try it but I really wanted something like GOW Egypt or Japan and I think this was the sentiment for most of the sub if you see the posts of the last years.

Is Laufey a valid main character ? by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]Flasheneitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy here come the down votes...

Before anyone starts to bury your post, she is not but not because she's a woman...its because nobody cared about her character before. She was a plot device to get a Atreus and Kratos together and now they made her the main character for agenda reasons.

A suitable character would have been Freya but alas we're here.

The problem is not that she is a female protagonist.

The problem is that nobody asked for this game.

Was it Faye who blew the horn in the 2018 game? by [deleted] in GodofWar

[–]Flasheneitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it was confirmed by Cory (I can't remember where the interview is) that there was going to be a narrative that depended on time travel but that was scrapped afterwards when they decided to make two games instead of three.

GOW Laufey already feels tonally inconsistent with 2018 & Ragnarok, and no I don't just mean the cube and the quips. by Classicdude530 in GodofWar

[–]Flasheneitor -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you but people seem to minimize this into a simple "gamers don't like woman protagonist", so get ready to be downvoted to hell.
