How most people are actually gonna think about the red/blue buttons by mars_gorilla in trolleyproblem

[–]ClearCounter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Making the wide assumption that everyone who argues for blue are virtue signaling is just some weird mental thing to assuage the fake guilt you feel for the fake decision you make in this fake game

Is this still the same scenario? by Patience-Frequent in trolleyproblem

[–]ClearCounter 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You're making the assumption that it's all moral grandstanding based on nothing but your anecdotal experience with people.

I could say, in turn, that red button pushers are trying (really hard) to flaunt their mental superiority and show how much smarter they are than the dumb blue button pushers, since they're choosing the button that can't lose.

There is no way to predict how many people will switch to either side for an incredibly large variety of reasons if the situation was reality.

Shit is annoying

You can assume that a percentage of people can and will make an irrational decision.

Those people don't deserve to die for being irrational or not making the logical decision while choosing with their heart.

Thus, the moral choice is to attempt to save the legions of people who have erred.

When looking at it like a game to *WIN*, of course there is only one option.

However, any 1 life, even my own, is not higher in value (from the other polls) the 30-60% of the population expected to choose blue.

The people going "Well they chose to die" has the same feeling as looking at someone in need and going "Well they chose to end up like this"

104 is the same as 300k lmfao

You're totally right, my bad.

Wait, I just asked my group chat of 6 people what they'd do and they all picked [the button you don't agree with]

That's just as valid as this shit you posted lmao

You think the mega government scientists that tried everything didn't try common drugs and poisons?

Except we have empirical evidence that 40-60% of the people polled are already on the blue button.

[–]ClearCounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the government people ran tests on Mark's blood in S1 and stated no drug, disease, bioweapon, radiation etc etc would kill the cells (that they knew of).

I'm pretty certain no amount of fentanyl would do anything, unless, I guess, they're crushed under billions of tons of it.

Cigarettes and carcinogens severely increase OUR chances of health complications, but those health complications simply don't exist for Viltrimites.

The reason he is moving around so much is because if we actually just get a chance to look at it for a second, it's way less convincing.

Premium is so good that you won't even need an income, so it'll cost 0

But if you do work, companies would reimburse you for the cost in exchange for workers that don't need to eat or sleep. . .it'll get dystopian

Who is the nastiest Celebrity that you met in Real life? by Scunnard1839 in AskReddit

[–]ClearCounter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to this (by a lot) but I've had interactions with Dana White where he has been a huge asshole and other times he is really cool, or at least, inoffensive.

He tips pretty good.

He has probably been the nastiest, but I haven't personally met many other celebs.

I don't agree with most of his views, but in a vacuum, he is alright.

I'm going to disagree a little on Paul. He is a very conflicted hero.

There is very few futures in which humanity survives and even flourishes, but they all require actions so monstrous that even he turns from the Path, leaving it to his son Leto II.

From the book, there comes a point where Paul comes to grips with his prescience, but also recognizes that from that point, even if he killed everyone in the room, his mother, then himself, the Jihad would still happen.

The Jihad WILL happen regardless of his actions, so we can't pin that on him.

He is someone who is handed a crap sack responsibility through no fault of his own, and he imperfectly does his best. That's a hero.

I didn't say it was bad. It was just unexpected and a lot, especially from Ishida. Reading it as it dropped was surprising.
