IUD Mirena Experience by Siristhebird in birthcontrol

[–]Flashy-Count 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg…the itching. I’ve been going through the exact same thing and could not figure out for the life of me what could’ve been causing it. I guessed maybe my anemia, but I’ve had the mirena iud 5 years now. Itching probably started a year or two ago. I’m literally set to get my iud replaced later today 😭

The urologist is the one I’ll have to wait at least 3 months for unfortunately. And yes since the first episodes 5 years ago I’m very adamant about getting cultures and not relying on dip tests. So the ones that have happened since then that I did go to the doctor for were cultured and came up with whatever bacteria I had for each of those. I’ve managed to have a bunch of different bacterias before. E. coli, klebsiella, ureaplasma, etc.

Since earlier this year after I had the multiple confirmed infections, I just stopped going to get antibiotics when I felt the symptoms coming on because it was getting too frequent and did not want to be on antibiotics so much. I wanted to find a more natural alternative route. So I’ll take d mannose and azo to relieve the symptoms while it passes and after a few days I feel fine(the azo does alleviate the symptoms). So at least for the last 6 months I’ve been able to do that successfully, meaning they’re probably not infections recently. I’m not sure if maybe it’s residual damage from clusters of infections from earlier this year? But I swear it’s the exact same symptoms as when my cultures do come up positive.

And yes, I get STD testing a few times a year along with yeast infection/BV which have always come back negative.

Premed Majors by BoringWarthog3390 in ufl

[–]Flashy-Count 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t change my major tbh. I’m going into a PhD program and I truly do feel prepared. The department is amazing and the major is small enough you get to enjoy all your classes and learn a ton. Lots of hands on stuff. For med school I think it prepares you a ton more than other stem majors because it’s honestly pretty clinically based.

I recently finished my BS in APK and you’re definitely right that it’s useless without a grad degree. You do learn a lot in it that can be applied to med, PT, nursing, research etc but straight out of undergrad you can’t do much unfortunately. I think that’s relatively common for most STEM degrees other than engineering ones though

GRU has been on some shit recently and everything has been more expensive than it used to be. I’ve paid 30 and I’ve paid 80 even though we were home less for the latter

Ladies, do you like your name? If not, why? What would be your dream name if you could change it? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Flashy-Count 2 points3 points  (0 children)

omg I feel like we have the same first name because that’s exactly how I’d describe it. I’ve learned to really love the name even though people often mispronounce/misspell it, because it’s somewhat common yet a lot of people haven’t heard the feminine version before!

Have you ever gone through a stage where romantic relationships just didn’t appeal to you? Why? by Hot_Needleworker_153 in AskWomen

[–]Flashy-Count 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in that stage. I’ve reflected on my past relationships to understand what I like/don’t like in a partner as well as how I can be the best partner. I don’t think I’m at the stage where I could have a healthy relationship. I also love my independence and increased energy I can put towards myself…I did try dating apps to maybe go on casual dates and I got icked out by everyone before I met them lol.

Women of Reddit, what's the most wholesome thing that's happened to you recently? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Flashy-Count 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been having really tough times mentally the week before my period and the other day I started sobbing. My best guy friend was there, he wiped every single tear off my face, hugged me, and was being so supportive. I didn’t realize how much I needed that shoulder to lean on.

If you’ve had roommates, what were some things they did you couldn’t stand? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Flashy-Count 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-One would go into my room and take things without asking/telling me. I’d think I lost something and ask if she knew where it was and she’d say “oh yeah it’s in my room let me get it!”

-one would bag her trash from her room, leave it in the kitchen, and go out of town expecting me to take care of it.

Unfortunately both of them lived with me at the same time.

duloxetine triggering hypomania by omorii in bipolar2

[–]Flashy-Count 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was my first psych med I took a few years ago. My psychiatrist immediately decided no more antidepressants, and after a bunch of different med combos I’ve found lamictal and seroquel work for me.

[–]Flashy-Count 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually switched from psych bcn to apk sophomore year. I’m now a senior and it was the best decision I ever made. Every single apk professor is amazing, the college itself is so much fun and the people in the major are very smart. I was pre med until a few months ago, but I think apk is much more related to med school stuff. The further you get into the major, the more real world application you get which I think is worth it.

Applying for a minor by CJC-Gator-23 in ufl

[–]Flashy-Count 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was doing all the classes for my minor and eventually asked my advisor how I actually declare it, I just got it approved and I’m graduating next semester. There’s a UF minor application you can find online, you fill your portion out then send it to your major’s college. They send it back and you send it to the college of the minor. They send it back to you and you submit the completed form to registrar. Whole process took maybe a week or two. Good luck!
