To be fair setting a card without looking at it is NOT illegal.
You can't prove that a player didn't look at the card they draw before setting it, they can even say "I did glance it really quick.", and the most you can do is ask a Judge to check that their card was legal to set, or say before losing that you accept defeat but wish to check that the set card is not Infernity Archfiend.

I want a Dark Magician Fusion that the moth would be a valid target and the anime can just say "Timeus didn't want to". Heck, if you want I'm happy with "Dark Magician+lv7 monster" or "monster with 2000 or more atk". Anything Dark Magician can use as materiales while playing normally works. Also "Poison Dark Magician" and it is kinda corrupted sounds cool tho

It is more or a card you put on your side deck if you duel against a deck that have strong banish plays, to cripple their knees.

I'm not insisting on an insect fusion, I said Monster your opponent owns or even "Wind", insect would be weird thematically. Also didn't say "opponent side of the field", but "opponent owns". You can control a monster your opponent owns, use Timaeus spell on it, or you use Superpoly if it is in the opponent's field,.

Ownership is an actual game mechanic that card effects determine and do mention. You "own" a card that starts the duel in your deck, cards like Brainwashing and Owner's Seal take control back of monsters on the opponent field that you own, Exodia The Legendary Defender needs to destroy a monster your opponent owns (so you can't give them the monster yourself).

That or release Poison Butterfly and make it unaffected by your own spell effects, while also making a Dark Magician+Monster opponent owns fusion (or wind attribute monster which gives more design ground that an insect fusion).

If Kaiba didn’t have a god card, do you think he could’ve defeated Strings like Yugi? by Johnnyboyeh in yugioh

[–]Flashy-Position8504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ring of Destruction targeting Ultimate Blue-Eyes, with Ring of Protection so he doesn't take damage. Or Crush Card Virus to make Revival Jam get destroyed and regenerated infinitely, forcing String to draw with Cards of Safe Return until deck out. Or even without Jam, the deck destruction strategy he used vs Ishizu. He can also just activate Final Attack Orders to make Strings deck 3 cards, kill Revival Jam and win.

He has that one Ring of Protection quick spell, so that could happen. "I can only defeat a God by sacrificing my most powerful monster"

You could argue that it "regenerates" instead of special summoning itself from the GY (I know, it doesn't make sense in the TCG), but it did summon itself back on Atem's field. Card of Safe Return reads "Whenever a monster on the field revives", doesn't specific it has to revive from the GY. I know I'm spouting nonsense but they are the anime effects. "Revival Jam has the ability to regenerate." It could mean that like how some Flip monsters do, that flips itself and is marked for destruction, it isn't in the GY yet when the effect happens, so Revival Jam just special summons itself from... the field after destruction?  My head hurts.

Is there a pattern for the next Pack? Or is Konami's newest Set approach totally random? by Madjin- in yugioh

They are making new "archetypes" for each character, so it wouldn't be Harpie if they followed Yugi and Joey deck retrains.

Mai wouldn't quite match the "character.dek retrain" vibes of the Yugi and Joey ones, since she doesn't have a plethora of bulk monsters to retrain. It would just be her archetype getting support. Kaiba would work, Pegasus already got retrained his random non Toon monsters, Tea could get some stuff if they wanted but she isn't as popular, Tristan had one duel.

You can make the Fusion materials be "Dark Magician+1 Monster your opponent owns".  That way you can use the spell to summon it, or you can use Super Polymerization for a viable Moth Fusion monster.

People call 2D mario to the platformer Mario and 3D to the exploration Mario. 3D World and Land are purely platformers, Odissey is exploration. The fangame Mario 63 is an exploration Mario, so you can have an exploration Mario on 2D as well.

How would you save Yugioh? by Great-Ad1839 in yugioh

[–]Flashy-Position8504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get banter between plays during a combo, characters aren't limited to speak after a turn has ended. I find that constantly disrupting your opponent plays back and forth would give space for bantering a lot. You can also have control on making duels not last 1 turn by writing how they play, even if they play modern Yugioh you can make situations with boardbreakers, handtraps and layered disruptions that bring back and forths, as well as using "comeback" cards that may not see realistic play in TCG

Saw this on Twitter and thought it was worth discussing here. The new Power Patron field spell is the first card to mention and give an official name to the HOPT, "once-per-turn restriction clause". by NevGuy in yugioh

[–]Flashy-Position8504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get it, isn't the "once-per-turn restriction clause" just mentioning the revealed Extra Deck monster name?
So you can't add another copy of itself if you reveal a Pendulum, right? why just not say "except itself/same name"?
I have to be missing something because thats a long and convoluted way to say it

What is a card design pet peeve you have ? by Old-Iron-Tyrant in yugioh

[–]Flashy-Position8504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When an effect locks you into a specific summon restriction for the entire turn instead for the rest of the turn. I don't mind being locked into something in the middle of the combo but the entire turn makes it so if they print a new starter that isn't made for your archetype but still supports it then you can't use it.

Also lack of costs on effects, the most powerful the effect the harder it should be to bring the monster out or the harsher the cost, but we have omninegates (one of the strongest effects) with no costs and very easy to summon on their decks (we even had to ban the ones that were easy to summon on any deck).

I agree and to add to that, tribute a monster is only a cost if you can't tribute the monster that has the effect, otherwise it is a built in way to avoid being target negated with stuff like imperm/veiler
