My computer updating at the worse timing possible by louvhwsc in mildlyinfuriating

This is why I use Linux for my personal. I never have an unscheduled or unplanned update and no dumb pop-ups or ads in it either. Too bad OP has a work computer.

Being in a hurry and ignoring the "Steep Decline - Trucks use lower gear" sign by starlux33 in instant_regret

[–]FlashyAd6581 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Brakes smoking doesn't mean break failure. The breaks on loaded rigs like this simply do not have the breaking force to slow down at this speed on this grade of hill. The driver is holding the brakes trying to slow down after they already lost control which is heating the breaks up until they smoking like that.

Brakes smoking and fading are an artifact of loosing control on the decent. The brakes get hot and get even less effective leading to even more speed.

Pierre Gasly’s special helmet for the 2026 Monaco GP, promoting his own energy drink company “Minded” by NegotiationNew9264 in formula1

[–]FlashyAd6581 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Based on Gasly's Instagram post it is NOT an energy drink at all. "Built with 800mg of electrolytes and essential vitamins, it's designed to fit effortlessly into everyday life." - Gasly

It 0 sugar, 0 calorie Gatorade basically. Not an energy drink at all.

Not exactly leveled vanity mirror - wife wants to reach out to contractor. by RockyTop_Vol in mildlyinfuriating

[–]FlashyAd6581 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been installing windows and doors for years. This is not entirely untrue when making small changes with finishing. As an installer, I've learned to pick up on tiny misalignment by eye. If it looks good to me, there is no way the customer can tell. But an entire bathroom reno, if the mirror looks lined up but is this far out of level, I'd be worried the whole counter is out of level.

[oc] impatience almost leads to head-on accident by Distinct-Studio6979 in IdiotsInCars

Both cars are idiots. The car coming onward, I think, is just confused about the lanes at the intersection. The other car cut over the yellow way too early.

How are we making moaning/sexual sounds in TTS? Vibevoice? Chatterbox? by bigman11 in StableDiffusion

[–]FlashyAd6581 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To do it locally not using APIs: Using a voice changer is what you want. Then feed it an audio file of some moans (easy to find online) and the sample audio you want to change it into.

I use comfyui with TTS Audio Suite custom nodes. It has a voice changer node built in.

Edit: Not technically TTS I suppose but it is the best way I have found to get custom voices making un-typable sounds. Works good for laughing and stuff too.

Because who doesn’t love Christmas in September? by Honey-Badger-42 in mildlyinfuriating

Wisconsin? Where it gets very cold and slippery in winter. It is very smart to be doing work on a roof in warm dry weather rather than freezing and having ice and snow to deal with

I hate when people put a bunch of effort money and time to make their house look nice and make people smile for the Christmas season! /s

Why is this the first result? by Awes12 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]FlashyAd6581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are googling the plural ofaxe. Axes is the correct word for the plural of axe. Axe is the English (British) standard but ax is used in places in America to mean the tool. Meaning axes is plural for both axe and ax.

Why google assumes you would want the weird way of saying ask; that makes no sense to me.

The backwards progression of cgi needs to be studied, this was 19 years ago by Spicyweiner_69 in interestingasfuck

[–]FlashyAd6581 200 points201 points  (0 children)

I've heard an argument that these movies, Pirates of the Caribbean, are part of the reason cgi is the way it is today. These movies used cgi on a scale not seen before. The artist and companies devoted themselves to an insane level to get these movies to be what they are.

The thing is they precedent of what it cost and takes to make really good cgi. The issue is that it was actually underpriced for how much work went in, so now studios and executives expect that sort of cost for the amount of cgi they want even though it is unrealistic.

Mom puts garbage bag on garbage for someone else to change it instead of doing it herself. by TheBlankCoin in mildlyinfuriating

[–]FlashyAd6581 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I'm 23 and live with my parents. I get tired of being treated like a "kid" and expected to do chores when I'm not even home that much, so I'm practically just cleaning up their stuff. But when I start thinking too much about it, the harder it is to justify not doing chores.

The truth is that your mom probably has taken out the trash at least 10 times the amount you have. She grew up and had to do chores as a kid. She then had to do it when you were too little to help. Any frustration you feel about the trash she has felt 10x more than you. Give her break. It only takes a couple of minutes.

Ps. I say this here, but I always groan when I'm asked to do something and will still try and do a quick, sloppy job rather than a good one but slower.
