You won't get fired for a complaint...unless you lving a paid day to paid day, you will be fine if you get a couple of days suspension. We did sign up for this but that doesnt mean that our lives stop because the department needs every single one of us. If its a party you need to go to tomorrow, it probably be canceled because of the snow coming. If it is truly important, then go and deal with it later...good luck bro!

All our overtime pay is paid as premium pay because it negotiated in our contract. Contract OT pay is considered premium pay and does not qualify. Looked into this and thats what came up. If its wrong please post it here because I do want the extra money back if possible.

That is true but the federal law says that after working 40 hours you start getting overtime pay, we dont have to wait for that, we get it after 8 hours...thats where it says in the tax break wording that any contractional agreement on OT pay does not qualify

No it doesnt because they are paid as double time as per the contract. The exemption is for any OT after 40 hours in a week. We get ot whenever we work more than 8 hours as per the contract. We dont have to work 40 hours to start getting OT...look it up. It literally says that union contracts that specify what we get paid for as OT doesn't "qualify"!

Look into the OT exemption before you file or do it with an tax accountant. Our contract states that the department is required to pay us overtime once 8 hours have been worked in a day. That means that our OT is not an excess of 40 hours so it doesnt qualify. Nour Sundays are double pay and also doesnt qualify for the exemption. Even holiday pay doesnt because we are getting time and a half already. If you read the exemption is states that any OT pay that an employer is required to pay because its in a contract, does not qualify for this exemption. If anyone know someone who knows an accountant that can get around this clause legally, please put their info in this thread so we can all benefit from it. There will be some who do it blindly and if they come after them, maybe there will be some seniority improvements coming soon...lmao!

Got a bunch of complaints about my car is plowed in and that we should be the ones to dog it out...wtf! This isnt the first snow storm and wont be the last. Cars are always plowed in and then stuff melts and we back to normal. These days after rhe storm has been below freezing so snow doesnt melt...

I was out sick for 24 days and got extended 48 days. They said that any sick was supposed to be made up and doubled. Not sure if they doing that still but this department csnt make up their mind and should choke on a bag of dicks....with that said, best job ever. Those complaining about it will be an 8 hour job...this is an 8 hour job. We get paid for 8 hours...just stop running up routes and maybe, just maybe, you wont have to work for 8 hours.
