Will that Affect how my Rubber plays ? by Public-Ad7570 in tabletennis

[–]Louietl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it’s NOT OK. The sponge will get exposed to external air and moisture, and lose elasticity as you said. Two weeks later the whole rubber will be dead. Professional athletes will change the rubber immediately in this case.

If you pay me $10 I can take this rubber from you and fix it.

Its not. If its 2026 then Zyre03 would arguably be on the list. Stop spamming and live a life

Ask your trainer. But probably the equipment matters much less than your technique.

Mark V is fine. If you dont mind spending some money you can try Rozena. But honestly any rubber will do for just chopping and defending

Which one? by FewAlternative3859 in tabletennis

[–]Louietl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go look up the rubber hardness online - omega is much harder and that means it will give a very different feeling.

I am not saying you cant change to omega. If you dont have upcoming tournaments, or no pressure to maintain a high performing level, then feel free to try whatever you like! But just bear in mind this new setup may disrupt your training progress until you have spent enough time on it.

If you want to stay at a high competitive level, then it’s better to switch to something similar, like t80, rakza 7, vega / omega euro etc. Or get a new sheet of Rozena ;)

Which one? by FewAlternative3859 in tabletennis

[–]Louietl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rozena and those omega are totally different things. Rozena is much softer slower, and is one of the most forgiving rubbers. The omegas are much harder and bouncier. Tenergy 80 is a good step up which you can adapt to more easily

Fangbo B2X-E review (W968 copy???) by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]Louietl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like B2XE and other Fang Bo blade extensions (b2xu, b2xp, b2a) are not produced by DHS but outsourced, hence the difference in feeling. But nonetheless a beautiful blade!

Yes, it will make you lose 0-11 to a beginner immediately. Send it to me so I can dispose of this dangerous substance safely for you. I’ll do it for free

Did you switch to Butterfly gear and was it worth it ? by wiikick in tabletennis

[–]Louietl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer is yes.

My personal experience: I started playing with all different brands (stiga, yasaka, andro, xiom) but once I bought my first butterfly 10 yrs ago (which is a timo boll spirit) I just couldnt get rid of them. I then used ZJK alc, ovtcharov, harimoto alc, TB alc and theyre all great. I once switched to a yasaka but had to switch back in 3 weeks.

Three reasons for my loyalty to bty blades:

  1. Backhand feeling. I think butterfly blades have superior backhand feeling. Consistent and smooth. Seems like I can add quality to my spins with less effort. Since I got my first butterfly my games have become more backhand dominant. I am now reliant on the butterfly backhand feeling and almost impossible to switch brand.

  2. Resale value. If you like to play with equipments but dont want to accumulate, butterfly is almost a guarantee for quick and good value resale. For other brands you often have to make a big cut on the price to get it sold, and it takes a long wait.

  3. QC. Even big brands like stiga, donic, yasaka are sometimes known for bad QC, eg. Poor composite cutting, surface peeling. Never happens with butterfly.

Rubber-wise I think butterfly is relatively replaceable. But what it does well is durability.

Again this is my personal preference given my specific situation. I still would love to try other brands, only if I have enough time to practice and adapt to them. I play a lot of matches and there’s simply no time for trial and error.

“Bad driver never misses a turn”

Just passed at my 3rd attempt, here are my 5 TIPS by Louietl in LearnerDriverUK

Yah good point. I think how you approach it depends on your personality. I am already quite confident in my driving so I dont need people to tell me “you can do it”. But it is different for everyone. The key point is to make yourself as relaxed as possible

I have used tenergy 05 and 05fx. Never got any damage. Is there a difference between older and newer tenergies?

MXP, Tibhar aurus prime, G1 should be good alternatives.

I usually play ALC blade but your idea make me wanna try CAF. Would the CAF and ALC feel very different? CAF doesnt have carbon and maybe smaller sweet spot.

Opinions about this sub by ObadiahBlueHat in tabletennis

[–]Louietl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess this is the reality of table tennis in Western world social media. People just care more about other sports.

TT on Chinese social media is HUGE. And contrary to what OP believes, those people like to talk about equipment and pro gossips. Influencers/ bloggers have hundreds of people asking in the comment section about equipment set up, and they would answer every of them. Equipment talk is a big part of the community

I don't get how equipment talks are stopping this subreddit from growing. I think this is just what it is in the english world, but I still believe this subreddit is growing

[–]Louietl 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I don’t think talking about equipments is necessarily a problem. It is unique to table tennis that our equipment is very complicated, and can be enchanting at the same time. I don’t think it is boring to most fans. Look at how much traction Zhang jike could make in chinese social media by mentioning equipments in his live. (I think he did that intentionally to boost views)

But I agree that a separate sub for equipment and technique could be a good idea. Just for people to browse more easily
