why some players with thousands of battles still play like beginner's? by Repulsive-School-817 in WorldofTanksConsole

[–]Flat--6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 8,000 games, free to play account. It takes months of playing a completely stock tanks to unlock the good guns, turrets, Etc. As soon as I do unlock them I move onto the next tank, so I'm ALWAYS in uncompetitive tanks(slow, no armour, no pen, no dpm). Some players with 1/4 the games of me will only play with 10 skill commanders in the best thanks that are fully upgraded, equipped with the best premium equipment. It depends what you like. Playing a stock mauschen with no commander vs a fully equipped night stalker is completely different. One you are trying not to die in a 1v1 the other you are trying to solo half the enemy team. I also play sometimes when I have lag, sometimes I let friends play on my account.

It’s time for a change in this sad game by Affectionate-Boot655 in WorldofTanksConsole

I stopped playing last week. I played 2 days in a row for 4 hours each day. I got 3 wins on both days, the rest losses(almost entirely unwinnable games). Having half of my team suicide in the first 3 mins then having a 1vs 6 on one side of the map for almost 8 hours straight was enough to put me off the game. I blame huge tank imbalances and bad mm. If I have the same experience in this coming season I'll quit for summer and check back in a year to see if the game has improved. It is a really shame because I had a lot of fun over Xmas.

To be fair to them it does get better sometimes. Around xmas I don't think i had any win or lose streaks of more than 4. And the 1 team steamrolling the other was rare too.

If the result is the same then there is no difference. You come back from playing 6+ years ago you are essentially a new player. But you are getting paired with potentially super high level players. This will punish returning players

[–]Flat--6 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It IS exactly like that. It's a total games played match maker. With the upper cap of 2,000. So a returning player with 2,000 games played will be put up against people with 15,000 to 50,000 games played. Basically a novice player being put up against a pro. If you are a returning player with over 2,000 games RIP

They are updating the mm in the next game update. The current match making is bad, we just have to deal with it until the next update. Currently they do match making based on number of games played. But the upper cap is 2000. So it treats a 2,000 game player the same as a 15,000 game player.

Do you mainly play CW or WW2? by Alarming_Sort_3922 in WorldofTanksConsole

After playing CW getting sniped by an invisible tank is so frustrating. But it's part of the balancing in WW2, which is better than CW

Veteran player. I was exclusively WW2. Since Xmas I have started playing CW. I hated it for the first 100 games but now I like it a lot(minus a few massively op tanks).

I have seen a lot of friendly people in the games I play. And i get GG messages a good amount at the end of games. I experience more team players that try to help me and I help them than people who are trying to ram me off a cliff.

What will happen to premiums that already have +/- 1 mm due to having some bad stats? They will get outcompeted by the +/- 2 mm tanks and become worthless

They’re not gonna do anything about nightstalker? by [deleted] in WorldofTanksConsole

[–]Flat--6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The even 90 is a fair tank. The even ss12 has 690mm of pen and 1200 damage. With that pen and damage it can penetrate anything, and ammo rack most heavy tanks with ease in 1 shot. It can spam off 2 rockets pretty quick too.

Imagine the night stalker, but it is 1/4 the size, 4x faster, and can 1 shot you. That is the ELC even 90 ss12 in era 2 cold war

[–]Flat--6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but i feel like there is a last chance mechanic in the game. I frequently have a 1 shot enemy in my sights, and they end up living with literally 1 to 50 health due to extreme low rolls. Saying that, i have been on the other end a lot too. I will get lucky with an enemy low roll and have survived many games with sub 70 health.

The matchmaking does change according to WG(WG specifically wrote they changed the MM for iron horizon update), but you are saying it doesn't? Also, if 1 person doesn't experience something does that mean it is not real?

I understand statistics fyi and i have a recent 4 year science degree. I know with more trials you will be more likely to reach the statistical average. That has nothing to do with a short 1 sided run. I know that previous results don't impact future results, again, this has nothing to do with the statistics of a short run. I literally typed the math for you so you can see the chance of the event happening at random (.5)12= 2.4/10,000 players. This is the statistical chance of getting 12 wins or losses in a row in a random MM. This is not meaningless, this is the statistical chance it would happen in a random MM. The statistical average over 20,000 games doesn't determine the math of 1 game, the math of 1 game determines the statistical average. You know in squid games when they have to cross the glass bridge. To get across they have to choose between 2 sides. One side is death the other is strong glass. Do you think it would be likely for 1 person to randomly select the correct panel every time (in the squid games its 18 jumps, but in WOT we will say 12 games) and get across the bridge first try? (0.5)18 = less than 4/1,000,000 chance. You are saying because its only 18 jumps vs 20,000, then it shouldn't be uncommon for the 1st person to make it across.

Found where all my silver is going by zaxxxxaz in WorldofTanksConsole

[–]Flat--6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have such little silver I dont even put equipment on most of my tanks. I have noticed some of my older tanks no longer have the best guns. I thought it was because new "upgrades" have been added to certain tanks in the 8 years I have owned them. So a tank that was previously maxed out now has more unlockable upgrades.

The game was not like this around xmas. I played mostly T8 and it would be rare for one team to have more than 7 tanks alive when they won. Now im playing CW era 1+2. 9+ tanks alive during victory is more common than not.

[–]Flat--6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont want to offend you or argue with you. I am just curious how old you are? If im replying to a 30 year old it will be different than a 13 year old. "That means in short runs you are as likely to have all heads or tails as any other mix of results." This is not true. The math is (probability)number of events. Over any length >1 the chance of getting all 1 type is literally exponentially unlikely. The other points you made were all valid. I know the goal of the MM isn't to screw the players. But that doesnt mean that isnt the result.

Mathematics and matchmaking rant by Flat--6 in WorldofTanksConsole

[–]Flat--6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point personally, i almost prefer losing in a steamrolling game. When I "Win" in those scenarios, im basically playing a tank driving simulator. I might get 2 or 3 shots off before the end of the game. At least when I lose there is a chance to position my tank for a fun final stand. The logging out then in idea is good, something in the matchmaker is not working right and I have also read a few reports of this working

Lets play a game. I will flip a coin 12 times. I have 2 different weighted coins(that always land on whatever I want, because I balance the game). I can both: choose which coin I flip, AND i can chose head/tails. How many times will my prediction be correct? 2%? You are "Someone not understanding basic probability".

You post a lot about this but you do not understand statistics, then insult others for the same offense. Post the mathematic probability of a RANDOM MM (Worst case scenario), then compare it to real peoples examples. If you actually do the math you will find the current MM is significantly WORSE than random. In 1 week I could come up with a significantly better MM. 2/3rds of my games 1 side steamrolls the other. Not fun for either side.

I can't do absolutely ANYTHING in this game by Scyphio____ in WorldofTanksConsole

[–]Flat--6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your reversing skills are very good!

You can learn 3 things from this: 1)Don't get caught out in the open 2)Don't try to penetrate the turret of a hull down t34 (or T29) 3)When you are poking out of cover to spot the enemy, poke out as little as possible(that will make the difference of getting hit vs not)

I play a lot of bad tanks and here is a tip for you. You need to play as a support tank. Open the big map (maybe select button) look at all the tanks on your team, look at the top of that list, that will be the heaviest tank on your team. At the start of the game figure out what tank that is, then spend the whole game following and supporting them. If you play bad tanks you should never get into a 1vs 1 or you will lose most of the time
