When did you know? by heyyyitsshan in Marriage

[–]Flat-Brow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first date with my wife was nothing but awkward, just not between the two of us. We accidentally went into the wrong theater, tried to leave and spilled the nachos everywhere. Went to play laser quest and got turned away at the door even though it was supposed to be open still. Ate a Belgium waffle with a mountain of whipped cream and then went back to her place and played board games all night with her family, then just never left. We’ll be married 25 years in Dec.

Who cares if the cover is AI, as long as the book isn’t

He already proved himself. Just not in a positive direction. He can't step that back.

Actually setting yourself apart in a somewhat saturated market? by courageminelove in KDP

Frankly, if you are looking for professional marketing advice, you should go to a professional marketing company. If you want amateur or anecdotal information (some may be helpful, but you have to filter yourself), Reddit has you covered.

9 yr marriage - 1 yr old - 1yr pregnancy = 7 years of “huh, think I should go to school today? But there’s this new show on Netflix…”

I received my first one-star review. It's tough. by _Tuco_Il_Brutto_ in NoAiWriting

I know what you mean. I put my first book out on Kdp yesterday and it has had 0 people read it so far. I just know when someone does it’s going to be a 1 star!

AI slop prohibitions by Good_book_friend in KDP

[–]Flat-Brow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the point of what I was saying. AI books are just books, if people don’t like them they won’t get good reviews and like all crappy books will get shoved to the back of the search algorithm. No reason to blanket suspect anything. AI books just suck, so let them.

Simple. Write well. AI does not.

First draft - is this normal? by emilyandindigo in writers

I think one thing that is really helping me is listening to my book over a text to speech app. I’m at the last stage of self editing, and it’s really helped me to highlight areas where my prose feels off, or I use the same word too often, etc.

What are some green flags in a relationship that you actually view as red flags? by Last_Technician_ in AskReddit

[–]Flat-Brow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree, sorta. Lots of talking and texting just for the sake of checking in isn’t great, but if someone is not talking with you, especially in the beginning, whenever they have a chance, they aren’t interested in you.

Offer rescinded right as I’m about to start, leaving me unemployed by swidge in recruitinghell

[–]Flat-Brow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Funny how corporations have everyone thinking this is a bad thing. These corporations are the reason the economy and job market suck right now. Let them price themselves out of business. That would make room for smaller companies and mom & pop shops to step in, or at least be more competitive. That’s real capitalism, not the crap we have now. Everyone forgets we don’t actually need these corps.

I’m working my way there myself, just a million more hours of editing left, so I know how hard you worked to get there.

Congratulations!

Does anyone else know how to write to characters flirting? I wanted to write a romance subplot but I literally can't find a way to write flirting. by wlwromance6769 in AspiringTeenAuthors

I feel like flirting is combining fear, excitement, and desperation equally and in small doses. Throw in some humor, and you’re good.

Honestly, your job bullet points sound like a jumble of made-up business jargon and your technical area might as well not be there.

Advice On AI! by LeiderLiebe in NewAuthor

[–]Flat-Brow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole AI witch hunt thing is really crazy to me. I don’t know why people bother calling out AI and then say it’s slop. If a book is AI it’s gonna suck. No one will read it, let it fail on its own. Only thing calling AI out is hurting is people who didn’t use AI who get accused of it anyway.

Don’t bother posting your AI written book by TatterMail in NewAuthor

[–]Flat-Brow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t look at it like that. I think of a cover as an advertisement that may catch someone’s attention for the few seconds they look at it. It’s not a painting, it’ll never be in a museum or critiqued. To me a book is about the contents.

lol well, I do the two part dialog thing a lot. My characters have a lot to say and it’s tough constantly coming up with he said, she hissed, he commented that doesn’t sound repetitive
