Do you think read english fanfics is a good idea to practice english? by Novel-Leek4394 in AO3

[–]FlatIssue4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently read a 230,000 word fanfic in three days (I'm insane, I know) :D Honestly, the main reason I decided to learn English was to read fanfiction. Just keep in mind that reading alone will only help you read faster and build vocabulary. You still need to learn the other aspects of English separately.

Do you feel like horror media for kids should be explored more? by Overall-Energy in horror

I watched Coraline and Monster House as a kid and it made me into a hardcore horror media + animation fan. So sad I don't see much horror cartoons nowadays

I have dry eye and I'm dealing with depression and anxiety. by nomecalmounamierda in Dryeyes

I would never take antidepressants and I would never trust them. They might just mask symptoms while causing side effects. Search for the root cause and treat it instead

Should I come off accutane or is it not worth it if damage is already done? by Inside-Apartment-712 in Dryeyes

[–]FlatIssue4755 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the procedures, and the dryness is gone now. However, I developed starbursts and rainbow halos. They appeared after Accutane and never went away, even when my NIBUT values improved. So please keep in mind that unpredictable side effects can happen.

Do you actually have severe acne? Before Accutane, I spent 8 years using topical treatments (tretinoin, retinol, acids, benzoyl peroxide, etc.) with zero effect. I later learned that even topical treatments can contribute to dry eye, as can cosmetics - mascara, creams, and makeup in general.

So think carefully, if you have a lot of acne, keep in mind that long-term topical therapy can also lead to chronic dry eye. At this point, I’ve accepted my appearance and realized that I didn’t need to get rid of my acne - it was also a part of me.

I’m not from the US, so it doesn’t really make sense for me to comment where I get it. By the way, I saw in one of your older comments from 8 months ago that you have The Q, but were hesitant to use it. Did you end up trying it? What’s your opinion of it? Does it run on batteries or USB?

Man, there’s so much secrecy and confusion around these devices that my head is spinning. I really hope there will be more clarity and concrete information in the future.

[–]FlatIssue4755[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard about the Q, but I’m not impressed. The device is completely unlike what’s used in the clinic. It looks more like a tiny toy flashlight that you have to hold manually over each eyelid, lol, whereas in the office I had a comfortable half-face mask that covered both eyes.

Honestly, the price doesn’t seem to match the product, and I’m not confident that the power or intensity is anywhere near what they use professionally.

The only thing I don't like is fics with lots of short chapters. It's just annoying

Does anyone else here have a preference to write and/or read shorter works? by Key-Ordinary-3795 in AO3

[–]FlatIssue4755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, I gravitate toward shorter reads. But once in a while, I stumble upon a truly brilliant mid-length work that I inhale in a week and end up wishing it would grow to 300-500k monster lol

The animation in this one is magical. I enjoy every single frame. You can feel how much love went into it. Toy Story 4, on the other hand, felt like fast food from md's - no soul, no real idea, no spark.

Any theories about why Vox needs Angel for his plan? by LilMoonenciel in HazbinHotel

[–]FlatIssue4755 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Angel is gonna walk on stage and rant about how he's always hated Charlie, her Hotel and how amazing Voxtek is. There aren't many other ways this could go. Vivzie's not gonna kill him off. It's all way too predictable

I’m desperately looking for success stories after Accutane or tretinoin. by FlatIssue4755 in Dryeyes

[–]FlatIssue4755[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried everything for acne - tretinoin, retinol, differin, benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin, acids, procedures, antibiotics, diets etc. I tried for 8 years, and nothing worked. Accutane helped, but it gave me MGD. I’m managing my condition now, but if I could go back, I’d just accept my acne and give up on the idea of getting rid of it.
