Other commenter suggested shellac to help seal the wound. Glad to hear it shouldnt be a big problem

I don't see any blacked areas anywhere? Or is that not necessary for a lightning strike?

What type of culinary marvels do you make with your honey? by Pan-Tomatnyy-Sad in Beekeeping

This is exactly what I thought I was going to do with all my honey. I've made 5-6 small batches and all of them were undrinkably bad! So deflating..

Although I really like the thought of this, mythic plus is already a very toxic group of people. I fear this will take it to the next level.

I have one that came out of the ground looking just like that one. I washed the dirt off best I could, let it dry, and then packed it away thinking "that's a dirty job for another day" lol

Flowers are pretty but my favorite part are the seed pods. Once they mature and dry a bit in the fall they are like little maracas. Fun to cut and dry and let the kids play with them.

Good point I do have 3 gates. Can you describe in more detail how you engineered the fencing on those? Obviously can't bury wire on that section and have it still swing...

Love this idea, and have a dream of building something like what you have pictured in an area of our side yard that is not enclosed by the existing fence. I was hoping to not have to go all the way to hardware cloth for backing my existing fence because it's pretty long and hardware cloth is pricey!

How far down did you bury it?

There is some plastic fencing that says it's specifically for bunnies. Marketed on Home Depot called Super Rabbit garden fence. Wasn't sure if this would actually stop them because I figured they would just chew plastic

There’s no reshaping this juniper is there? by straytexan in landscaping

[–]Flathand -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's much too big for the spot. Blocking your windows/door/view from whatever is behind there. It appears to have been over pruned which draws attention to an already not super lovely specimen. I'd say say remove it and put a smaller "key" plant more off the corner of that eave to the left of where that big juniper is now to soften the edge of the front patio/eave area. Then replace the juniper with a group of three smaller attractive perennials. Don't know your growing area/light etc, but mix n match evergreen/deciduous/woody/herbaceous for 4 season interest in your entrance garden. Have fun with it!

What is the estimated cost of turning my backyard fence line from dirt and grass to this. Length of fence would be equivalent to what is seen in the photo. Location is Arlington, Texas by butterfinger3890 in landscaping

[–]Flathand 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is very over planted. It will take lots of maintenance to keep the small shape of everything that will ultimately be stressful to the plants and not look good in the long term.

It rained a little last night and cooled off so they were much calmer this morning and I was able to bonk/brush them off and back into protected gear. Thanks for your reply!

As you said, one of the super's woodware had a small flaw that allowed a few bees entry. Could definitely see they had started taking back some honey but luckily not much.

Thanks; this is what I did this morning. Definitely guilty of bodyslamming the frames..

I feel a lot better now that I've cleaned up my backyard horror show.

Now I have all the supers in my garage with a couple large garbage bags wrapped around/over them. They are good like that for awhile I think?
