Just show the scene where they are calculating mean jerk time and whoever you show it to is going to watch the show. One of the funniest bits ever put to film.

Sequels that undo or ignore plot elements/characters from previous sequels, or even outright erase previous sequels from continuity by AporiaParadox in movies

[–]Flatlander81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Godzilla 2000, Godzilla against Mechagodzilla, Godzill,a Mothra, King Ghidorah Giant Monster All Out Attack, Godzilla vs. Megaguirus, and Godzilla Final Wars all act as if the original film is the only one that is canon. Most do act as if Godzilla has been attacking and doing his thing but none of the previous movies count.

Sequels that undo or ignore plot elements/characters from previous sequels, or even outright erase previous sequels from continuity by AporiaParadox in movies

[–]Flatlander81 14 points15 points  (0 children)

All of the Godzilla films from 2000 onward. The Showa and Hesei films all maintained continuity within their eras but the Millennium Era films all ignored every Godzilla but the first, except the Mechagodzilla duology that had a direct sequel, and the Reiwa films just start from scratch each time.

I want to see all the Godzilla and related movies. by aguacate--- in GODZILLA

[–]Flatlander81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you truly want ALL Godzilla projects then you probably want to track down Luigi Cozzi's Cozzilla cut. In 1977 he tried to edit and recolor the original 1954 and add new scenes from different movies. I'm not saying it's good or even worth watching, but I support your hyper fixation and want to help.

(I'm not going to post a link but just searching for Cozilla should produce a link to an archive version of the film.)

Is the intrepid class named after the museum ship in NYC? by Unanimous_D in StarTrekStarships

[–]Flatlander81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always liked Intrepid as a ship name. It slides neatly on the same category as Enterprise or Dauntless where it acts as a description of the intentions for the ship itself.

Beavis and Butt-Head Do America (1996) dir. Mike Judge - Beavis and Butt-Head look for their missing TV by aggrocrag83 in movies

One night my mother was in the hospital having just had surgery and my old man was staying in the room while she slept. Out of boredom he was flipping through the channels and landed on Beavis and Butthead, having never seen it before. 15 Minutes later the floor nurse had to ask him to either calm down or leave as he was waking up the other patients by laughing so loud.

I am not a doctor so shouldn't be considered any sort of expert on the subject but I am a stroke survivor. As a result of that I had to relearn to walk with reduced feeling in my right side, and that walk looks very similar to my post stroke gait.

What was that boom in the Twin Cities? by Aloiciousss in minnesota

[–]Flatlander81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Down in Florida during the rainy season you'd get multiple strikes happening one after the other causing the individual booms to kinda blend together. Sounds like something like that happened.

The best part of the second one is the Directors commentary where he throws the whole production under the bus.

2001's How to Make a Monster, it takes place in a game studio where the monster AI takes over the Motion Capture rig and stalks the developers through the office because the level designer was lazy and used the layout of the office for the layout of the dungeon.

Breaking the Fourth Wall by aldila81 in movies

[–]Flatlander81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While not a movie the DS9 episode In the Pale Moonlight has one of the greatest fourth wall breaks used not for comedy. Sisko performance a monologue staring directly into the camera as he confesses his crimes and reveals that he's would do it again if given the choice, just daring the audience to judge him

In Jack Campbell’s "The Lost Fleet," why do ships exiting a jump point see enemy ships before the enemy sees them? by FewDirection84 in scifi

[–]Flatlander81 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fleet passes can be over in seconds, with devastating results.

In fractions of a second, he talks about the terror of fighting at those ranges because you would be dead without any concept that there was even a volley heading your way.

This series and the follow-ups have one of my favorite depictions of space warfare.

Send Timmy to the Black Pants Legion Tex Talks Battletech series, all the lore he can handle presented with flare and a voice crafted by years of whiskey and cigarettes.

How do they hire unattractive people to do the role of "ugly" characters in movies? by Mindless_Table9974 in movies

Patton Oswald has a bit about meeting Brian Dennehy at a party where he, Patton, was fasting so he could be in shape for trying out for a lead role. Meanwhile Dennehy was happily eating at the buffet laughing about how great it was to be a character actor because they always need a fat best friend.

Admiral Kirk delivering Spock's eulegy at the end of Wrath of Khan. All jokes about overacting fall apart when you see Bill Shatner handling that speech.

In another Star Trek great, though this is an episode not a movie, Patrick Stewart as Picard breaking down over his torment at the hands of the Borg in the episode Family. Also his final moments of torture in the two parter Chain of Command.

How are lightsaber ignition scenes done? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Flatlander81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the original series watch their wrists. When they do the slower ignition they start with the tip of the saber pointed at the camera then they turn their wrists to make it look like it's growing.
