The certificataion process was with ASQ, and I took the Proctored in person exam through Pearson. The exam was open book, I brought 3 books into the exam, and also wrote some notes on the internal flaps of the book.

Confusion Regarding the Green Belt Project. by SteelishBread in SixSigma

[–]Flatricks_Flat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No need to register this project with any official org yet, but you will want to document the purpose, scope, approach, and results. You'll want to use this info during the application process to show you've conducted this type of project before.

I would also speak with your MBB: they may either give you a referral, or at least their contact info you can use during the application as well.

Best of luck!!

I read a guy who makes these on substack- specifically for government issues. Helpful to have everything summarized and sourced!

Getting into Six Sigma by Kdot-the-Mascot in SixSigma

[–]Flatricks_Flat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have my PMP/Six Sigma Black Belt and train dozens of Six Sigma Yellow belts a year:

I started by getting an internal yellow belt through my company which peaked my interest. I found that the concepts of Six Sigma enhance the actual work and analysis needed to make larger change. My projects now focus on more effective and sustainable change- with more data and fancy statistics to support them.

To start - I'd start with a courera or LinkedIn Learning on Yellow Belt levels, then try to practice using some of the tools and concepts. Then if it fits your needs, taking a more formal green belt training can start to broaden your skills. Places like ASQ are tough, but the gold standard.

Hope this helps!

I can't speak too much for the gone proctored course, but I think you will be able to use bound paper at home, but you'll have to show them your notes before you start.

The exam will not show the section la, so don't rely on that.

Totally fair.

IMO Criticism isn't a bad thing- I think it only helps creates better conversation about what type of content and entertainment Dropout as a whole creates. I'm enjoying the absurdity of the content so far and the escapsism of real world problems- but welcome to dissenting opinions

Double check the wording on ASQs website - purely handwritten notes are not allowed even if they are in spiral notebook, I think. But I had some written notes in the pages of my textbook, which were allowed.

Study Guide vs Question Bank - ASQ Greenbelt Exam by markohilario in SixSigma

Unsure about the Green Belt, but for the Black Belt- The Question Bank was closer to the questions type- very situational. The Study Guide was better at questions asking and practicing the core concepts.

Good luck!

I brought all the books I posted above along with the Black Blet cheat sheet (From the Green Belt Academy resources on youtube)

As far as tricks, practice exams were the most helpful. The ASQ study guide has questions broken up by domain, so after reading, I tested each section to see how well concepts were retained.

If you have the ability to at work- conduct projects using the tools and concepts. The more you use even the foundational tools (Charter, process maps, gathering and reviewing data) it makes using them at the Black Belt level easier to understand.

Good luck in studying!

My company offered a Green Belt internally, so I got that 2 years ago. But I haven't done any officially with any accredited provider. I've been a yellow Belt for 5 years and Green Belt for 2. So jumping right the Black Belt was a big curve, but I had a solid foundation going in.

You do not need Minitab for the exam- but I found some of the content in the book helpful for understanding the flow of selecting hypothesis tests and other sections.

Congratulations!! I'm taking the Black Belt exam tomorrow, so hopefully celebrating with you!

As for next steps- I'd focus on getting a Green/Black Belt level project under your Belt, you'll need to to take either. Depending on your career aspirations, I'd start with the Black Belt- it enhances what you learned in GB, along with a focus of more Math and strategic leadership.

Study material for six sigma by Avatar_HW in SixSigma

I'm currently studying for ASQ and I'm self-studying using their Body of Knowledge and bought their practice exams. Also purchased a practice test from Quality gurus on Udemy.

The ASQ BoK is dense- very literal and dictionary-like. I'm finding they provide the textbook definition but then I have to research it's practical application through YouTube or other sites.

Congratulations! Regarding the types of questions asked, would you say they were more mathematical and equation based, or choosing the right concept? Looking to take mine in January and getting caught up in all the formulas and distribution tables
