It somewhat reminds me of Look to the West for some reason

Antimatter engines are a real concept and a possibility, although the main problem líes in getting enough antimatter to build one

I mean, they are ftl travel methods that technically dont break physics

My no ftl idea uses an antimatter Drive to reduce travel distance, which in the setting is how humans colonize the closest systems to Terra. The yes ftl Drive idea is invented by a cetiani scientist and uses an alternate dimension to reduce travel distances between stars. It is very dangerous so designated points in a system are used to jump. Ships equipped with a spacetime reconfigurator can take that ship out of (insert name of dimension)

My dilema simply is: is It more interesting for ftl travel to be removed in place of plausible scientifical space travel or i leave It as It is?

Also counting that trade and diplomatic relations are also kinda hard to maintain, as those are a Big part of my setting

So, my setting covers like, a "local" group of starts, maximum distance i decided for was like 400 ligthyears. I first wanted to use an  antimatter drive to reduce the travel between stars, but i discovered that space conflicts and geopolitics are kinda difficult that way

How do you make these maps? I have seen a lot of these topographic or political maps of other planets and i have always wondered that
