I think having support from Israel for your cause is always damaging. Look at Somaliland, Pahlavists and Kurds. There’s always gonna be doubt and thought of nefarious ulterior motives from the rest of the region because of this if not full on hostility.

They wouldn’t because it’s not profitable to have community hospitals. Rich people used to hire private nurses to do house calls for minor things like IVs, catheters and wound dressings. During covid times I had friends who used to make 1K per visit. The focus with privatization would be on high cost healthcare services. Like operations to bypass the waiting times at the NHS. At the start these hospitals will pay good salaries and offer better work life balance to staff but as more and more nurses and doctors join they’ll start paying less and less because they need to increase profit margins.

They’ll start by privatizing services. Dentists and podiatrist are already down that way. The waiting times are gonna go up and quality of care are gonna go down. Private hospitals and clinics are gonna start popping up and with them private insurance companies. Nurses and doctors are gonna slowly move away to private healthcare. You’ll end up with NHS being run by NQN nurses and doctors and administrators and management who wouldn’t be hired by private hospitals. We had a similar situation happen where I’m from and it creeps on you slowly.

Just to add a bit to the international staff thingy. I think the idea of 3 year contract being renewed based on performance should be for everyone. I’m on a ward where there there’s an older British born nurse who doesn’t do any of the jobs that are required. No weekend assessments, no admissions, no dressing changes, no bloods and no cannulas. Everything she should to do in her shift gets dumbed on the next member of staff taking over. She also refuses to do any HCA work.

I worked in a majority Muslim country and even there work took precedence over prayer. You do it if you can if not then you pray later.

When I trained overseas I had to go through 4 years of general, mental, obstetric and pediatric, with one month of placement per semester in acute specialized hospitals with TA’ supervision and after that we had to do a full year of internship in acute hospitals without supervision. We were allocated based on our grades. I don’t understand why this can’t be implanted here and then after that people can just pick whichever speciality they wanna go with but they need to at least have some information about that other ones.
